2003 Savana 3500 battery light is coming on intermittently. Sometimes van voltmeter shows 14 volts then sometimes it shows 11.5 volts. Is the voltage regulator internal should just replace alternator

ITS part of the alternator. Check it directly at the alternator if u can. It sounds like an alternator starting to go. Have it ckd if u can. It should be reading 14- 14.5 volts at the battery.

Tip

Going through starters and alternators?

If you keep replacing starters and alternators, they aren't the problem. Starters: check your battery's ground cable.
Alternators: Make sure you're also replacing the rectifier circuit. Alternators make alternating current and it must be converted to direct current. This happens in the rectifier, and arrangement of three diodes. Diodes are like a one way street for electricity. But sometimes, they fail and leak backwards.
Then they quietly drain your battery overnight. It drives a lot of people nuts figuring that one out.

How can i fix my car alternator not charging battery after i washed the engine and also on the dash board the front doors battery engine brake and brake lamp stay on

These lights are most likely on due to the alternator not charging. If the internal electrical circuits of the alternator were directly sprayed with water, the alternator may have shorted out and will need replacement. You can try using compressed air and blowing the water/droplets from the alternator to see if that will help. Sometimes running the vehicle will also help dry out the alternator. If the lights continue to illuminate, suspect alternator replacement to correct this issue

Thank you! i have been told that the alternator has an internal voltage regulator? is the voltage reg. located in the brain modual?

The voltage regulator is built directly inside the alternator case. If the regulator fails, you need to replace the alternator.

Something is drawing my power when my car is off and I have replaced my battery 2 times in a week and a half I was told my alernator is ok what else could it be?

Your alternator may not be ok. It is common for an alternator to continue to work and charge even with a shorted diode. However, it will allow the battery to drain when the car is shut off. Also make sure that all the interior lights including any mirror lights are turned off. Try turning them right off, even though they are supposed to turn off when you close the doors, trunk, etc. If you have a meter, you can check your alternator easily enough. You need to disconnect the battery - take the negative cable off. Then disconnect the battery cable from your alternator and check the terminal with an ohm meter. There should be no continuity to ground through the alternator in one direction. If you have continuity to ground in both directions through the alternator, you have a bad diode and have found your problem. Repair or replace the alternator.

On my 95 chrysler lhs i get a code 41 which means the alternator field not switching properly. How do I fix this?

replace the alternator. or you can change the diode trio if it is on the outside of the alternator. this is the part that changes the alternating current from the generator (alternator) and makes direct current

REPLACED ALTERNATOR ON 97 S10 BLAZER STILL CHARGES AT 11.9 CHECKED DIRECTLY AT ALTERNATOR

You got a defective alternator, voltage starts there, so it can not be a fuse or fuse link, return it and get another one.

the tensioner can be lossened by taking a rachet and pulling in the slack direction and you can take the belt off,you should not have to loosen any bolts.your tensioner should be spring tensioned.
