Question about 2001 Chevrolet Blazer

Replacing battery I had the car in accessory mode by accident for about hours, now, nothing works, I figure its the battery but need to know how to replace it.

Battery drains if left for ~12 hours HELP!

The first thing I always suspect is any kind of aftermarket accessory, like an installed alarm or stereo. If there are no such accessories, then do the old remove fuse trick. Remove one fuse from the panel (remember which one) and test the car after several hours. If the car still doesn't start then you know its probably not that circuit. Next remove the next fuse and again test the car after a few hours. You will have to do this for every fuse until you find the one that allows the car to start without a problem. Once you find out which fuse is the one which is allowing the car to start, you need to find out what is on that circuit and test / and or remove those items separately. I had a Ford Taurus that I did this with and finally found out that it was the wiper motor that was intermittently draining the battery. (after removing the wiper fuse, the car started the next morning). No one else, not even the local Ford dealer was able to figure this out.

What is the amp draw when the car is on accessory with nothing on. just a estimation. My car is drawing 5 amps with the key in and turned and it killed my battery?

When you say NOTHING on, are you saying no radio or interior light? No light on in the boot (trunk) and no sidelights? If this is the case then a 5 amp drain does sound a little odd.

That said 5 amps should not be a great drain on the battery. If you have a 70 amper hour battery (Obviously, I don't know what car and rating battery you have, so I just took a general stab at a Mitsubishi Charisma which has a 70ah battery) then a 5 amp drain should take 14 hours to kill it stone dead. I imagine that 5 hours would put it in a pretty poor condition and 10 hours would probably have discharged it to the point where all your lights are dim and the vehicle wont turn over on the starter motor.

It does sound like you have something draining moe power than would be expected

If there is nothing, you probably have a dead battery-nothing else would cause no crank/lights or accessories unless it was a bad connection at your battery terminals. charge the battery with a battery charger ) a 2 amp charger would take a couple of days, 10 amp about 8 to 10 hours and a 50 amp about 3 hours, but charging slowly is better for the battery)- If you have a voltage meter, chances are your battery is well below 12 volts, and as it sits it should recover somewhat, but probably you will still need to at least charge it. Conventional batteries do not do well with full discharges and it can 'kill' even a fairly new battery in short order, so prepare for the possiblilty that you need to replace it.

How do you change the alternator on a 2002 Freelander 2.5L

On the 2002 Freelander it is in deed tricky. Basically you will need to support the front of the engine as you will be removing the front engine mount in the process of removing the lower mounting bolt from the alternator. You will also need to work the belt off the pulley without damaging it as well. The whole job takes about an hour. Be certian that you have disconnected the battery prior to starting your job.
