Van is transit swb 2055 drives normal but all dials on dashboard not working

ive got a 55 plate 85 T260 swb crewcab 68000 miles, , i bought it 12 months ago, red light flashes on dash board most days, some times arratically, sometimes quite slow, and all clocks, speedo and dash does not work?????????
the smallest scratch and the van rusts, no under seal, there just a use it and dump it van.

A bad contact in the wiring to a sensor - a small shock disconnects it for a brief moment and that is enough for ECM to shut down the engine. Switching the engine off and on resets the ECM and allows the engine to restart.
Since this is a temporary failure it will be extremely difficult to locate. And the only way to do it is to shake the wires with the engine running: start with the ones on the ignition key switch.
I think this is either brake fluid or washer bottle ,or handbrake warning light or brake pad wear warning light ,great motors a transit a real mans motor unlike these american pansies with autobox and whatever else .They seem to have a problem with our europeon vehicles as i dont think they are taught in a manual car
