Several, like failing to activate the starter or failing to shut off the Ignition completely when the engine is off. Just depends on which terminal is the worst.

Now there is an Interlock switch which links the shift cable, Ignition switch and brakes for safety. Sometimes this switch, the Interlock, will make it impossible to use the starter when the Ignition key is turned to the start position.

The Interlock switch is located on the brake pedal lever under the dash. It often gets dislodged or broken by the Drivers' feet. Depending on your symptoms, the Interlock switch could well be the cause of your problems.

I have a 1992 F-150 with a 5.0. The ignition switch block burned up so I replaced it. The truck will not get park to the distributer now. I placed a spark tool between the Distributer and the coil wire and...

it sounds like you have spark in the RUN position, but not in the START position.

try leaving key un RUN position and truck in park wit e brakr applied. Then jump starter at the starter and see if it starts.

if yes, trace circuit from ign switch for start position.

Put a new battery, starter, and solenoid on the truck. It still won't crank.

You have a bad fuse or ignition switch. If you turn on the headlights and try to turn ignition do the headlights dimmer? If the do the ignition switch is probably good and you hav a bad or loose wire somewhere, If the headlights don't dim the I would suspect the ignition switch. Let me know if you need more info.

You still have a bare wire somewhere ... You probably did this already ... I would remove the wire from the ignition switch to the start solenoid and see what happens ...

Good luck on your search ...
