Check trans light comes on after a few blocks of driving

Check the code, check, check tranny fluid level.
Sounds like low fluid or shift solenoid.

there is no chip in the trans. sorry.
check fuses.
then this time scan it and write down the DTCs errors numbers.
and post those, we cant guess these critical facts.

find any ASE shop, and get it checked.
they dont need to cheat you,there work load is near infinite.
no reasons at all.


no over 30mph, did the transmission up shift.?
is it stuck in 1gear. surely you can count the gears shifted?
if not , get a real mech.
if the transmission file the FSM stall test. then this it.
1: tranny RPM goes too high RPM (engine RPM) this is transmission slip.
2: RPM in drive, 1,2, or R, is too low below 1500rpm. STALLED.
this is weak engine. not trans.

I have a 91 Accord. The speedometer started going wild, 30 mph. 75 mph and I was at a stop finally quit working and the S light came on. I finally changed the speedo sensor and the S light went off...Check engine light was also on, read on a forum that the speedo sensor does more than control your speedometer, maybe that your trans is not getting the info it needs to shift.....

check transmission fluid level- run/drive for about 10 min. , park car- check with engine running- add fluid if needed- ,if fluid NOT low- transmission filter needs to be changed

Check the transmission fluid level. Check for leaks.

Sounds like the filter in the trans is plugged up. Should flush trans every 45,000 miles and replace filter and fulid. Its easier to take it in to a shop and have it done they use high pressure flush which will clean out the whole thing for about $200.

sounds like a fuel problem either a dirt blockage or the computor is mailfuctioning

The problem is one of a few things. Bad or low fluid. shift solinoid in the trans going bad. or pump in the trans getting very weak.

this is best checked by a service shop specializing in trans work.

This is just a possible solution to you all follow the airtube from your air filter box and remove the aluminum block that is on the intake the air tube connects to this block, once its out of the way look inside the intake to see if antifreeze is present if so you need to replace the plastic intake, due to poor construction it is common for them to crack and leak water in to the combustion chambers eventually cause your car to stop running and it will not crank, because the cylinders are full of water,
