How much does it cost to change a fuel filter in a 1991 jeep cherokee, labor and parts?

It is a very easy change, On drivers side before the gas tank. A couple of bolts and four clamps on the gas line. It takes about 15 minutes and the filters are not that much. It is a big black filter.

Need to change fuel pump on 1999 xj8 jag

Hi ,
Fuel pumps are no always straight forward, they sometimes retain fuel under pressure and have to be discharged in order to be replaced. If your so sure it's gone (not an easy diagnosis) the replacement instructions will be on the replacement pump instructions or an owners manual. DON'T TAKE CHANCES WITH PRESSURISED FUEL ! Good Luck

98' Malibu wont stay running

Start with the simple and replace your fuel filter. A dirty fuel filter will cause the issues you have described and not have a DTC code show up. The other thing would be a stuck EGR valve from carbon build up and can be cleaned with throttle body cleaner or Seafoam.

Start with the fuel filter and will not hurt to clean out your throttle body and engine with Seafoam.

Thank you for using fixya and keep us posted

Where is the fuel filter located on a 1997 contour gl

Fuel filter replacement for the 1995-1997, 1998 Ford Contour (4 Cyl 'Zetec' 16V and 24v Duratech V6) Fuel filter is located under the passenger side of the car in front of the rear wheel. Time: 5-10 min Tool needed: One flat head screwdriver Replace this filter is fairly easy. First, have a replacment filter and absorbent material as this will spill some gas. Suggestion: Remove black caps from new fuel filter. Have those handy when removing old filter. You can use them to cap the gas that will flow out of the old fuel filter, thus saving you a small mess. Also, take a good look at how the old fuel filter looks attached. Replace the new fuel filter with the same side (IN-OUT) The fuel filter is attached via a simple screw cable. Unscrew the cable to loosen the fuel filter (It will not detach by itself). Give it enough slack to pull out once you are ready. Next ,using screwdriver, pop-off white plastic retaining clips. Remove front and rear fuel line. Replace with new filter. Connect fuel lines. Connect white retaining clips on both sides (There will be some play on the connection, but that's normal). Screw the screw cable so filter is connected firmly (Do not overtighten and make sure screw nut is visible so you can see it the next time you need to replace filter. Double check your connections. Turn the ignition to ON for 5 seconds - but do not turn the car on. This will allow the fuel pump to push gas through the filter. Turn ignition OFF. Check to see if there is leakage. If no, turn car's motor ON.

Unable to locate the position of the fuel filter

Follow the (usually steel) fuel lines from the engine bay underneath the vehicle all the way back to the fuel tank. fuel lines may resemble brake lines, they usually look very much alike. Find your fuel rail, it connects to fuel injectors, and then follow it to find the fuel lines that go to the fuel tank.

You may have to remove plastic covers from underneath the vehicle, one kia I worked on the fuel filter was halfway up the side of the fuel tank and we had to remove the whole undercarriage cover from underneath the vehicle to follow the fuel lines to it.

I assume you have the new fuel filter, so you know what you are looking for, if you don't it looks like a can with a fuel line coming out of either side of it. Similar to what an engine oil filter looks like, usually quite a bit smaller though.

Hope this helps :)

How to remove and replace fuel filter/

it is very simple and straight forward which part are you having a problem with it is located on the passengers side toward the front of the engine compartment has total of 4 hoses one coming from the tank to the filter, one going from the filter to the pump, those two you do have to remove, and reinstall , but the other two you can leave on the plastic T connector just remove the slip and pull the connector up and then undo the screw that holds the filter down install the new filter and then fill the new filter with clean diesel fuel very slowly as the fuel has to soak into the media in the filter then reattach the T connector and start the car that should be it, might sputter a bit while the air is worked out of the system.good luck

Changing air filter and fuel filter

Both are under the hood and easy to get to. As for the Air Filter nobody beats K&N they are simply the best. Any fuel filter thats the right one will do.

Replacement for fuel pump and fuel filter proceedure on 1992 accord EXR

Fuel filter located: Under hood, passenger side, upper firewall, mounted in fuel line. I think you will see how to change by just looking at it.
I do not believe it is the fuel pump. Usually they are all or nothing.
