Question about 2002 Chevrolet S-10

97 S-10 blower not working

I have replaced the resister and the relay, with doing that the fan worked like it should for a day or 2. Now the blower does not work at all. I by passed the wiring for the blower and that made the blower work on high. So I know the fan works what could be the problem?

Should be the switch on the dash has bit the dust. The way it works sometimes is the blower motor is only one speed (high) and the switch on the dash has a resistor in it to accomplish the different speeds. Add another switch off most any car or truck to the hot wire you already installed and see if that doesn't fix it. You should need to be sure the substitute switch has a grounding wire capability.

If it is working at all then the relay and fuse is good and the problem is either the little vacuum hose on the back of the control switch panel or the panel itself.

Yes its the blower motor resistor.

More then likley theres some trash or something in it, or possibly the motor itself is on it's way out. There not that bad to pull out of that body car, just pull it out and see what you can see.

The blower motor is under the glove compartment

You can replace the resistor on your own. Please find a detailed diagram which would guide you to do it.

You need a resistor pack, which is likely located in the air box, near the blower motor.

hi you probely have a draging blower motor. if it pulling more than 25 amps replace it and check akk wirring connectors for burn or hot spots. good luck

SOURCE: The fan/blower only works on the high setting.

It probably is the fan switch itself. They are around $30. for a new one. You can take it out and check to see if you have power to all the settings with a ohm meter or test light. They are not real hard to take out.

Hi Jim, I will try my best to help you. First off, let see what we are losing at the blower motor. Three things I want you to do. #1-With a multi-meter check the power side at the blower motor connector and see if you have a full 12 volts. #2-With a test light hooked to the battery positive terminal, check the ground side at the blower motor connector to see if you have a good ground, the test light should be good and bright. #3-With the multi-meter set on ohm's check across the actual blower motor connector a resistance reading of up too 7 ohms is OK, but if you have a reading above like 14 to 22 ohms then replace the motor. 1992 chevy C1500: Heat works on low speed, no medium, and high only works intermittantly.

On any other vehicle it sounds like the blower fan switch.
The fan switch provides power or ground to the resistor and there would be a high speed blower relay to bypass the resistor.
But in your case the fan switch is part of the controller.
I don't have a diagram for a 92 but the 94 model shows relays for low medium and high speeds. Each relay gets power from a fuseable link. The high relay gets power thru the low relay if the low relay is not engaged.
If you have the model with 3 relays you may need to check them.

The fan on the air conditioner on my 2003 Dodge Caravan goes off. I changed the relay switch which worked for a while. Now the fan is shutting off again. After a while it comes back on.

Donna, I'm not sure what you mean by relay switch, I'm assuming you mean the "Blower Relay" under the hood. In all my years working for Chrysler I can tell the biggest problem with the blower not working is usually the "Blower Resister". Here also is some things to check while replacing the part. When you unplug the connector at the resister look at it and make sure it is not burnt. If it is you'll need to replace it as well, the dealer has a new overlay wiring and connector you solder and heat shrink to the vehicle wiring. If it is not burnt then of course you just replace the resistor. One other thing to check out, is remove the connector for the "Blower Motor" and check to see if its burnt, if it is replace it in the same way you would the resister wiring and also replace the blower motor. If it is not burnt the your OK just trying the resister by itself and see what happens. I'm just down the road in Saint Peters, if you have any questions call me. I'm Allen 314-374-5218. If the heater fan on your car only works on "High" the problem is more than likely the resister assembly in your blower circuit or poor connections at the resister assembly. When the switch is in the "high" position the current does not flow through the resister assembly it flows directly to the coil of the blower relay. When the switch is in "low", "medium 1", or "medium 2" position the current flows through 1, 2, or all 3 of the resistors in the resistor assembly which results in the 3 different lower speeds. Check the resister assembly and replace if needed.
