Question about 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser
Help I need someone to tell me if this is something that i can fix myself i am a girl and can do just about anything and would like to know why this is occurring ??
That box probably is the brake switch. The brake light switch is usually, if not always, mounted on the brake pedal. You will have to look up under the dash at the upper end of the pedal. See if you can fit the box back onto the pedal. There should be a spring loaded button on one end that activates the switch. When pressed in, switch is off. When button or pin is out, switch is on, and brake lights are on.

The brake light switch is above the break pedal and I think the box you are talking about is part of that. When you press break pedal in the switch operates the lights and with the switch hanging freely its on all the time. You can try to put the switch back up in its spot. If needed google it so you can see a more detailed view of this solution

Take a flashlight and look at the area under the dashboard where the brake pedal is.
The brake pedal swings from a hinged part above it.
Press the pedal with your hand and watch the pedal move back and forth.
There is a small switch with probably one or more wires that should be mounted so that a button moves in and out as the pedal is pushed. That button controls the brake lights, and some other things sometimes.
Sounds like the switch has come out of it's holder near the brake pedal. If so, the nut may be gone holding the switch in place, or the switch may be broken.
If that is the switch that is hanging, pushing the button with your finger should turn off the brake lights.
Re-attaching the switch in the proper location and adjusting it so the brake pedal pushes the button correctly should fix-er-up.

SOURCE: PT Cruiser Brake Light
The bulb in the rear light has burned out and to replace it follow these instructions: 1) go to your owner's manual to find out the part number. You can find and purchase the replacement bulb at Target, any auto parts store and even at Walmart for under $4.00; 2) pop open the trunk door; 3) get a phillips screw driver and unscrew the 2 screws holding the rear brake light fixture to your car body; 4) as soon as you turn over the fixture you'll see where to pull out the burned out bulb and replace it with the new one(s). Good luck!

There are 2 possibilities. It is on Power distribution Center (mine was there)
or Fuse Block
Here are the photos:
If you like to fix your fog lights, you must replace malfunction switch. It is a typically PT-Cruiser problem.
