4610 ford diesel tractor water pump bolt torque settings

First you need to know the diameter of the bolts and the type of thread ie 3/8 N/C or 5/16 N/F then look at the type of bolt ie plain steel or high tensile SAE grade 3, 4, or 6, once you know this go to a general purpose bolt torque chart, and derive the torque spec info.
If the water pump is cast iron use the full torque specification.
If the water pump is alloy then reduce the torque spec 10%

Below is an example of a general purpose bolt / nut torque chart

Installing new water pump on my Scout 2 (345 v-8). What setting do I torque the bolts to?

International does not give a torque spec. for the water pump, so use the bolt manufacturer spec.if i remember right the water pump bolts on a 345ci were 5/16in and 3/8in so 28-32 ft lbs on 5/16in 35-42 ft lbs on 3/8in......hope this helps

I need to replace the water pump,. How do I remove it and what are the torque specs for the bolts on installation

take the engine cowl off you do not need to remove the rad ,undo the viscous fan reverse thread on this -- the remove the pump ,the torque setting i would have to look up in the haynes book but i would say about 12/15 lbs but just tighten up with a 3/8 rachet and hold about halfway along the hangle and use two fingers to pull it and that should be the right torque

  1. Clean all parts well. Use care when scraping gasket material from the front cover and the pump. Do not gouge aluminum parts. Clean the bolt threads well. The torque specification is low and if the bolt threads are dirty, an accurate torque is not possible and leaks are likely to develop.
  2. Using a new gasket, install the water pump to the front cover. Install the cleaned and lightly lubricated water pump bolts. Torque to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
  3. Install the water pump pulley and bolts and torque to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
  4. Install the remaining components in the reverse order of the removal process. When refilling the cooling system, use the proper mix of DEX-COOL® and water. Check for leaks.

3.4L (VIN X) Engine
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Partially drain the cooling system into a suitable container.
  3. Remove the coolant recovery reservoir.
  4. Remove the drive belt. Please see .
  5. Remove the pulley bolts and separate the pulley from the water pump.
  6. Remove the water pump bolts and remove the pump from the engine.
