If the car goes in to park and fully engages then it selector needs alignment. Thats very common.

You must be talking about realign the transmission it self that would cost. If there was anything spilled on the selector then the problem will not go away till its cleaned up inside the guage.

Really its not any problem but just bugs the person that owns it. Here is a site that may help you with this.

But like i said if it fully engages the gears then there isnt really no dangers of this.

check your automatic transmission fluid level.( with engine running and fully warmed up, on level surface, put car in park, set emerg. brake, open hood and check fluid level like checking oil. watching out for moving parts fan, etc. turn off engine and add accordingly using a funnel and pouring directly into tube holding tranny dipstick. use propper type and do not overfill.) if fluid on dipstick is super foamy , dark in color, showing sediment, then a tranny service with filter and fluid change may be in order? fluid is gennerally bright red in color and a little thinner than motor oil.also the bands inside of trans. might need to be adjusted if applicable? maybe linkage? an average trans. shop service check should be considered usually around 39dollars?dont get talked into a huge repair bill.but try to remedy as soon as possible before it actually does?hopfully its just a maint. issue, if not, these are the type of situations that can ultimately fester into an avalanche of fun. :) good luck

My 97 escort wont go into reverse or neutral. I starts in park, but if you place it in reverse or neutral it still goes forward. It takes alot of rmp's to get it to move forward when in any gear. this is...

I assume this is an automatic since you mention "Park". If so, it seems as if one of the planetary cluches is worn out (or you have insufficient pressure in the tranny). Either way, it is tranny rebuild time. Is the transmission fluid brown and burnt smelling or a nice bright red? Any particles floating in it?

Car jerks when put into drive

check the engine/trans mounts. A good way to check yourself is to have someone standing in front of the engine with the hood open obviously, while you shift the tranny to drive or reverse, if your friends see's the engine moving vigorously, it's worn out mounts.
