SOURCE: Oil leak somewhere abouve the starter.

It could be transmission fluid. This can leak if not sealed off and they smell similar. If you can get some of that leak on the ground and a good amount, put water onto it. If it turns pink it's transmission fluid. If it stays black the oil line may run under there somewhere. Don't really know about them German cars.

SOURCE: Oil Leak around oil cap and Air Filter

I'm afraid to say you need an engine. the pale yellow liquid is oil mixed with antifreeze, which indicates the head gasket is gone and the antifreeze is in the oil. Also the oil in the air filter housing indicates you have bad rings. If you want to keep the car replace the engine.

SOURCE: 2007 Jetta 2.5L: how to change oil filter

Usually with draining the oil filters you just screw it off and the oil will drain. It can sometimes be messy but thry to keep your arm out of the way and have the oil pan at the bottom. If some gets on the engine or header pick up some break clean and spray off the remaining oil that made a mess and it should come all clean like you didn't even spill any oil!

Good Luck!

How to reset oil light for 2000 jetta vr6

Did you have the oil leak prior to changing the oil? The "change engine oil" indicator is just a service reminder to get the oil changed. You need to reset it. Call your local dealer or check your owner's manual for instructions on doing this. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi I have a vw Jetta 3 1994 clx carb model coil pack keep packing up now have conversion of Jetta 2 Modulator but Rev counter is playing up oil buzzer keep sounding. Can all this be caused by the...

Your Jetta 2 modulator is not compatible with the Jetta 3 electronics, especially when it comes to the coil as they give different stokes of spark to the distributor. Oil switch must have a pressure leak. Replace the switch as a small leak of pressure can cause the sensor buzzer to sound. The modulator have no influence on the oil pressure switch.

I have a jetta 2 1989 model doing 400000km. Its

First you need to determine exactly where the leak is coming from. Clean the engine off with some rags so there is no oil dripping. With the engine running look closely to see where the oil is coming from. The chances are pretty good that it can be fixed with a new gasket or two.Hope this helps.

Transmission leak!!

Had similar problem (Jetta 5 cylinder 2006) - leaks in the timing chain cover, large oil leak near the tranny (sounds like your problem), leak from "ALT belt side crank pulley seal and leak from oil pan. This car has only 23,000 kilometers about 14,000 miles on it!!! The dealer repaired this at no charge...
