Remove the caliper, there should be 2 bolts on back of caliper. Take a wire and hang the caliper up on the coils so the line wont break. Pull rotor off.

1988 Lincoln town car front brake calipers lock up have replaced both calipers. It drives perfect for awhile then they will lock up again.


When you replaced the calipers, did you also replace the caliper frame and slides? Start there. It is common in ford disk brakes to get "stuck" slide pins as they can rust inside the caliper causing the brakes to fail to release the rotor when you let off the pedal. Another cause is the flex line that connects the caliper to the metal lines at the body. As it ages, the inside of the rubber breaks down and collapses effectively becoming a check valve. Pedal force pushes fluid to the brake but separator spring pressure is not enough to make the fluid go back into the master cylinder effectively making the brakes lock up and bind. Try replacing slide pins if haven't already and replace the flex line.

On my town and country van the brake are gone soo fast and its only one bake the front left one ... What could be the problem


change the caliper and the hose new brake pads and make sure to cut or replace the rotors everytime you change brake pads ! do not do brakes without cutting or replacing the rotors please ! hope this helps

Having trouble getting caliper off front brakes and 1998 chrysler town and country after taking bolts out


Use a tool wedged between the pad and the rotor to force the piston back.

Don't get carried away, or you'll damage the rotor. Apply gentle pressure, and the piston will slowly go back into the caliper.

The pads don't quite reach the edge of the rotor (by design), and so there is a slight lip on the outside perimeter where the rotor is ever-so-much thicker.

2006 town and country rear brake rotor removal. After several beatings, i cant get the rear rotors off my town and country. They are alittle loose, but am wondering if i have to do something with the...


yes the e brake shoes inside the rotor tend to create a lip that will hang them up just bake them off a bit and you should be able to pull them off fairly easily also check to be sure that the stock assembly line retainer clips have been removed from the front of the rotor they are just thin looking washers that are pushed on to the lug nut studs to hold the rotor in place on the assembly line a pair of side head cutters work well to remove them and discard after removed.

I have a 1998 town and country with traction control and the brakes drag after a few miles most notably the left front(smoke and melt caliper). I have replaced the calipers and rotors twice but this still...


I had a similar problem with my anti-lock brake.
One of the will wear down. I took it to the dealer, could not tell why.
Until one day the a brake light came on. It was a bad sensor. Replace the bad sensor and the problem went away.
The mechanic plug a portable instrument and drive the car around until he find out. (The brake light came on, then off.)
This anti-lock brake system is control by sensors and it one is not functioning properly then you have a problem.

Brake lights


Check the wires and connector at the brake pedal switch. These wies have a tendency to break, This will cause no brake lights amd not allow the shift interlock to function

Ok, i'm assuming your replacing them, there is an oval rubber stopper on the backside of the rotor, in the backing plate, located near the bottom. it will tighten or loosen the e-brake shoes inside the rotor, loosen them all the way off, then get a big hammer and give them a really good smack, be carefull not to damage the wheel studs, if your reusing them hit on the hat of the rotor, if replacing you can hit right on the rotor face.
Use some antiseize on the hub before installin your new rotors, and don't forget to readjust your
e-brake and reinstall the rubber plug
