SOURCE: 92 lexus es300 knock sensor

Need to remove the upper and lower air intake manifold.  There are two knock sensors for the front and rear pistons banks.  If you plan to do this yourself it is about 1 to 2 hours.  While you are at it, there is a short coolant bypass hose sitting in the same spot, replace it.  Another problem with the knock sensor is the wire harness used to connect the two knock sensors into one connection sometimes wears out and contacts the metal on the engine causing false signals to the ECM, so replace this cable also.
Just did this last summer on my 99 ES300.  Pretty easy.

My Son has a 95 es300, the amp for it is located under the front passenger seat. The easiest way to access it is to remove the 4 bolts holding the seat down, and remove the seat. Takes about 5 minutes

SOURCE: 2002 Lexus ES300 Check Engine Light

You can disconnect your battery for a short period of time, 5-10 minutes should do it. There is no guarantee that the check engine light will not come back on in time, but it will make it go away at least temporarily. If you go to Autozone, 99% of the time they will hook up a code reader and diagnose your problem. It may be a minor and/or inexpensive fix. Please vote appropriately and leave feedback. I hope this helps and good luck.

. NO it will not . code po420 refers to cat converter system , bank 1--efficiency below threshold===causes cat converter---wiring--HO2S 2

Have the cat converter checked for failure and replace if necessary. Check the operation of the heated o2 sensor before that cat converter.

I have a 1997 lexus es300 check engine light came on code PO420 what could this been

Code P0420 indicates cat convertoer efficiency below threshold. Sorry, but this usually means the cat is shot. Probably will need pro diagnosis, and if cat is indeed bad, have them try to figure out what killed it. Can be anything from misfires, to coolant getting in the combustion chamber. Outside chance of o2 sensor problem, but this one usually requires the sensors to be working correctly to set. Due to the diagnostics neccessary, probably you will save money by having it looked after by an experienced independant, who's familiar with this model.

Have code po420

Catalytic converter is running below efficiency threashold, meaning it is not removing unburned gases as the ECM (engine computer) expects as reported by the rear O2 sensor. Here is a paper on the subject-in most cases, replacement of the cat would be indicated, aftermarket cats are available at a much lower cost than OEM. It is also possible to 'trick' the O@ sensor from major fluctuations by installing a 'spark plug arrestor' between the O2 sensor and the exhaust stream.

Code p0420 on 97 lexus es300

P0420 is catalyst below threshold. It is triggered via the rear o2 sensor (post cat), so you may want to check that sensor to make sure it's functioning properly.

Code po420 on scan tool but o2 sensor was replace 2 months ago

Hello and welcome. the code P0420 is for a bad cat. converter. replacing 02 sensors wont repair this code. the code simply's means that thje cat. converter is not working as designed and will need to be replaced.

The PCM determines the oxygen storage capability of the catalytic converter has degraded below a calibrated threshold.
