Question about 2003 Buick LeSabre

03 Le Sabre passenger side mirror is loose

Last week, someone pushed the passenger side mirror forward, thereby breaking whatever "stopping mechanisn" kept it from moving forward. The power features work fine but the mirror is loose and folse into the body as it's supposed to do - but it also folds all the way towards the frot of the car as well. Today, I was able to see that it can easily be lifted out of the mounting hole at it's base. I noticed that there is about a 1 inch round plastic peg that seats the mirror to the holder. The dealer wants about $500.00+ to fix it by replacing the entire assembly, including painting it black. Just looking at it, I could probably just pull it up a little and put plastic cement on the plastic peg to seat the mirror. Then it would be fixed forever until some other ******* bangs into it and completely breaks it off. Is there any way to repair it other than having the dealer replace it for $500.00+ or me gluing it for a couple bucks??? Thanks for your help. Tom

You have to pull bracket from the inside of the door remove the cover and an electric wire connection, perhaps remove the panel from the door, but I doubt it, once you remove the cover on the inside of the mirror, You will see the screws that attaches the mirror the cover is usually plastic clips, use commune seance

Hi 5331!

actually i am sorry to say that there is no other way to get it repaired other than replacing it. gluing can be an option but it is not durable.
here u can find some cheap mirrors: http://www.1aauto.com/1A/Mirrors/Buick/LeSabre

otherwise u'll have to find an old mirror of nearly same make and then open it up and replace the broken part... but its an hard n tough job!

hope this helps!

good luck and please rate this solution!

You can find & replace the mirror (in the above link sent by me) in less than $80. I think that would be the best option for your Buick Le Sabre.

Look into getting an assembly like THIS on eBay
Or HEATED ones for a bit more
A couple bolts, and you have a "new" to you assembly.
For under $200 you can get upgraded heated ones!
Little elbow grease, and you save money!!!

an OEM replacement is also a viable alternative. $169 for THIS one.

3 Nuts hold these mirrors in place, and are accesible by removing the inside door trim panel directly behind the mirror.

Don´t despair, it´s a nice car you got there. If it´s still under warranty, it´s probably best just to take it in for a brand repair. You probably have a short circuit within the mirror casing, with a plus cable touching the metal body work. If you take the mirror off by gently pulling it with the help of a plastic ruler, you would probably find the culprit.

Pain but fixable. Sounds like the linkage is not connected. Even a mechanic will have to remove the door panel and fight with it. If you can remove the rear seat from the drivers side side door then you might have room to remove the passenger side door panel to fix it. Usually clips are the first thing to break on door handle/latch linkages

Need to replace Mirror Assembly, 03 suburban

Your going to have to remove the inside door panel to get to the three bolts that hold the out side mirror assembly. Once you have the door panel off you'll see the three bolts that hold the mirror assembly, just un-bolt and un-clip the wire harness to the electric/heated mirror. To install the new mirror assembly, just do everything in reveres. Go to Auto Zone and by extra door panel clips, there is a good chance of breaking some of the retainer clips and Auto Zone will have the step by step instructions to replacing the mirror assembly and the removal to the door panel. Good luck and keep me posted. Be glad to help.

INSTALL SIDE VIEW MIRROR ON A 1997 TOYOTA CAMRY

Yes, you have to remove the door panel.

Remove the 2 plastic protectors on the front edge, and remove the 2 brass colored screws. Next, remove the push pins from the latch side. Push in, and pull out the whole thing. Next, under the armrest, remove the screw. Lift up the power windoe control, being careful to not break the plastic retainer tab. Remove the screw under the window control. Starting at the bottom, pull out the panel, and, when all of the clips are loose, pull the panel straight up. It is best to do this with the door panel as warm as possible, like in a heated garage. Doing this outside in the cold will break all of the plastic retainer clips; they are quite brittle whn cold.

I hope this helps

Thanks for choosing FIxYa for assistance. A FIxYa rating (4 blue diamonds) would be greatly appreciated.

Replacing RH Side view mirror on a 2006 Toyota Sienna

On the inside trim, you can remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. Then you'll need to manipulate the panel and disconnect the door handle linkage from the door handle and disconnect the wiring for your controls. Then you can access the bolts that secure the mirror onto the door
