Question about 1997 Ford Expedition
Truck turns over and idles at about 300 to 1000 then dies for about a minute. Also back fires. Replaced the spark plugs and fuel filter . tested coil packs. before it died truck was running really rough with no power and check engine light was flashing. checked all the hoses.
Sounds like the timing chain has jumped a tooth needs a new chain if its an interference motor the valves are most likely bent to

Are you sure the spark is sufficient? I have seen weak coils cause your problem also bad coil wires loosing to much voltage to the distributor.
