How do i rebuild a mitsubishi l300 fuel pump

My mitsubishi L300 van is 13 years old and the fuel pump has never been serviced manually. recently the exhaust is excessively smoking especially at high speeds and uphill driving also during shift in gears as i accelerate. ive noticed also my fuel consumption is higher than usual. i would like to scrap, service and rebuild my fuel pump in hopes my problem would be solved.

What color smoke is your diesel tractor making if you see heavy white smoke tractor injection timing off.see black smoke injection pump too far advanced or injectors nozzles need cleaning.diesel engine has excessive fuel consumption injector nozzles need cleaning or fuel return line restricted.injection pump could need to be retimed.

on start-ups the smoke is white but at high speeds or hill climbimg its heavy black smoke. its a diesel mitsubishi L300 panel van. in my situation i think you may be on to something as i had replaced all belts and ALL front seals sometime ago. i was pretty sure to set back the timing as accurate as i could. before removing the old belt i marked a spot on each pulley to ensure when i put on the new belt it went back on exactly how the pulleys were set. i had this heavy smoking prior to changing belts so its possible if the timing was off from before i simly repeated that error. thanks for the suggestion jonah, i'll have the injection pump timing checked and i'll let you know what happens. thanks a million.

hey there. i havent gotten that injection pump checked just yet, but hopefully by weeks end. in the mean time i got one other issue. when i apply brake, it slows the vehicle as it should but then if i keep the brake pedal pressed to stop the pedal slowly goes down almost to board. so i quickly have to release the pedal and depress again whilst using my handbrake just incase the vehicle doesnt stop. risky business! ive replaced my master cylinder seals but still same problem and there arent any leaks. i suppose if the master cylinder was badly worn i'd be getting no brakes at all. whats your suggestion? i wont be attending to these issues till the 1t2th of januaryso expect my response to your suggestion after that date. thank you.12

Don't sound like a fuel pump, replace fuel filter and see if it fixes.

i forgot to mention, a couple days ago i replaced my glowplugs and noticed some very very small metal filings on their tips, could this be from the plunger withen the pump if the seals are worn? i have no idea how this pump is made up, which is why im searching for a schematic(mechanical) diagram

On your vehicle, you can drain the water from filter and you need to check brake master cylinder, add if low, also bleed your brakes, check each wheel at line to see if you have any leaks.

SOURCE: 1995 Mitsubishi L300 Van 2ltr aspirated motor,

If it's carburetor & has automatic choke, then there is probably a screw at side of carb, by step cam that moves with choke . Back it of a little at a time until you get desired cold idle speed. Make sure you turn step cam to setting it would normally be when cold, and choke on, then turn screw out to lower rpm's. Look for a little rod from choke shaft, down to base or side of carb area, to step cam.

SOURCE: For a 1989 Corvette L98,

have you checked the EGR Valve for leakage? if it is leaking the valve will get very hot at idle right away after a cold start, also the intake manifold gaskets leak on these, it can leak under the manifold and on the top do a propane enrichment to see if engine smooths out at idle. I will bet the EGR or the intake gaskets are the problem, u also never mentioned the all important electronic engine control fault code test, go to the link for instructions on how to do this test without a scanner.
