The simple answer is you need to find the source of the leak.
Do you know where the fluid is leaking from ?

Cluch pettle dont work just go to floor

Either the upper or lower clutch kit is leaking hydraulic. Replace the clutch kit. You may as well check if the clutch fluid reservoir is not empty of fluid.

I wrote while ago thanks for the help now my 1991 mercury capri is rattling I have been told it is the cover plate for cat. coverter how do i tighten it? Also clutch feels weak how to tighten?

Sometimes a stainless hose clamp cam stop the rattles, sometimes it takes a spot or 2 of welding.

If your Capri is not an XR2, then you have hydraulic clutch, no adjustment is possible. If it doesn't work right, the master or slave clutch cylinder may be going bad, time to replace them. good luck...Chris

1991 mercury capri with turbo DOHC 1.6L thought I put bad gas in it. started loosing power bad.she runs, but not well when you try to go up hill.reverse is ok but when I put her in 2nd there is a grind...

sounds like an electrical problem. Maybe you have a water leak and it's dripping onto PCM, engine computer. I think it is under dash on passenger side. or in right kick panel.

get one at if necessary or ebay. stop water leak first. report findings

Why would the engine engage when the clutch pedal is almost all the way out? The car is 1991 corolla and the clutch fluid reservoir has needed to be refilled several times.

Sounds like you are loosing fluid because of a leaking slave cylinder or slave master cylinder. Air is probably entering the system through the leak, causing a weak clutch pedal, or your clutch plate is worn and also needs replacing. Have them both inspected and replaced if necessary.

The cluch gose in very easy and will not shift unless car is off

Could be that you have a fluid leak on your slave cylinder to the clutch. You need to first check the clutch fluid res. out under the hood. Look for a small white res. close to the firewall. You can use DOT 3 brake fluid to refill if it is low. Once you have refilled it check for clutch peddle travel. Be sure to check for a leak under the car. Keep a check on the fluid res. to see how quick it leaks down.
