Question about GMC Sierra 3500
I have a 1988 454 1988 sierra. the truck only starts sometimes on its own but always starts when it is push/pull started
When the starter motor is working there is reduced power available for the the ignition system. pushing or pulling allows full power for the ignition system. faults include starter motor problems (poleing out draws to much current) incorrect battery size, faulty earth strap between the engine and battery. fault could also be in the ignition switch in that when in the start mode there is no circuit to the ignition system

The first thing you would need to know is why it won't start on its own.
It could be the key switch or a list of other things.
Try to narrow down the choices, fuel, ignition, or compression.

My passenger side headlight would just all of a sudden come on. That's with no keys or the switch!! I put in a new battery and haven't had any problems.??? Cheap fix any way.

SOURCE: Ford fiesta keeps stalling
The problem is with your Idle Control Valve.
Look in the middle of the engine and you will see a plastic air box. Fastened to this will be the valve, a small cylinder with a wire connected to it, should be held on by 2 bolts
Undo the bolts and remove the valve. Spray WD40 into the two holes until it runs clear then rinse with petrol and let it dry.
Replace and bobs your uncle, should work fine.
You can replace the item for around £25
