Question about 2010 Chevrolet Express Passenger
2010 CHEVROLET EXPRESS PASSENGER VAN 3500 6.0L ENGINE WITH 52K MILES PROBLEM JUST STARTED. Confirmed popping noise from fuel tank shortly after start up and then again shortly after shut down. It is not in the exhaust system. Is there some type of fuel vent/valve that is either plugged or defective. It acts like the tank is unable to equalize the pressure. As if the fuel when sucked out the tank basically is collapsing in (Popping in noise) Then once the fuel pump stops after shut down the tank pops back out as air must leak back in? I have tried to find a diagram to find if there is such a component, and if so where is it located?

SOURCE: exhaust pops
Your right maybe but removing the gas cap will equalize any pressure. It's more likly that the inside baffle thats inside may have come loose or part of the fuel pump or gauge unit came loose. The fuel pump can make some odd sounds too but if it is don't expect it to last much longer. Does the car still run OK ? It may have a partly clogged fuel filter and the pump is working way to hard to pump the fuel and making noise doing its job.

Sound like you are sucking air in through a leak in the suction line [the one from the tank to the ingection pump].A leak in the return line will actually leak fuel but nit the suction line. You should check to see if it has a prefilter, not all do but if you do have odds are it's never been changed.
