SOURCE: Ford F100 Fuel System

how hard was it to pump it by hand?Iwould be suprised if a mechanical fuel pump could be easily pumped by hand as the spring pressure required to hold the arm against the eccentric is considerable If its a cleveland or windsor you cannot pump by hand.I own a 1980 running a cleveland and found that if you put an electric pump as close to the fuel tank as possible and have a good original mechanical pump fuel delivery is no longer a problem.I had to do this as soon as i went to a 600 holley as the original pump was not able to supply sufficient flow.the electric pump doesnt have to be an expensive hi volume type,it only has to help to get fuel to the mechanicl pump

SOURCE: 04 chev. 1500 fuel tank will not take gas, gas

Evap vent solenoide is stuck closed. Start by replacing the valve and checking the hose to the valve for clogs...this is located between the cab of the truck and the bed of the truck on the driver side (can be seen if you look down through the crack)....If this doesn't work then check the fuel filler neck hose for kink or restriction this is the hose that goes from the gas cap to the fuel tank.

SOURCE: 1992 f-150 dual gas tanks tank closest to cab of truck pumps gas out the fuel cap

A FORD EQUIPED WITH DUAL TANKS THIS YEAR MODEL HAS CHECK VALVES IN THE FUEL PUMPS .THE FUEL RUNS FROM THE REAR TANK WHEN IT IS POWERED ON TO A TEE AND INTO THE SAME LINE AS THE FRONT PUMP . THE PROBLEM IS AT THE BOTTOM OF THE FRONT FUEL PUMP THERE IS A CHECK VALVE ON THE FOOT AND IT IS NOT WORKING.WHILE THE TRUCK IS RUNNING WITH THE REAR FUEL PUMP ON IT IS PUMPING FUEL INTO THE FRONT TANK . IT WILL RUN OUT OF THE NECK WHEN IT IS FULL.THE FIX IS SIMPLE REPLACE THE FRONT FUEL PUMP. THEY DONT MAKE A CHECK VALVE REPLACEMENT I CHECKED I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AS YOU.

How do I replace the faulty fuel pump in my 1997 Ford Thunderbird?

Check your fuel pump relay and fuel pump fuse first. Once you have determined that they are ok. Open the gas door and remove the 3 bolts securing the fill tube. This will make the job a little easier. I personally leave it attached because it can be a pain to reattach. You will need to jack up the rear of the car and place jack stands under the car. Make sure the car is on level ground and the front wheels or chocked or blocked to keep the car from rolling.Safety first. An empty gas tank is a lot easier to handle but if it has fuel still in it, you might want to have a friend help. Undue the gas tank straps, theirs 2 with a bolt at each end Remove one strap and then support the tank, with a jack in the middle of the tank or a (friend) and remove the other strap. Be careful not to pull on the tank as you can break the fuel lines. To remove the fuel lines you will need a fuel line removed tool, most parts stores carry them, or fuel line couplers and hose clamps as you can cut the rubber fuel hoses. Where the fuel lines attach to the gas tank, that\'s the fuel pump,it will have a lock ring that needs to be unscrewed. There should be tabs sticking up, gently tap (it will be stubborn) with a flathead screw driver and hammer, moving from tab to tab. shouldn\'t matter what direction. Do not destroy it,as you need to use it for the new pump. Once the lock ring is out. Simply lift out the pump. Installation is the reverse. Just take your time.

How do i change the fuel pump on a 2007 F350 super duty 6.0 diesel

siphon gas out drop the tank undo the harness twist the retaining ring pull pump. install in reverse.

probably be easier to just pull the truck bed off. usually requires unbolting 4-8 bolts holding bed on from inside the floor of bed. unhooking wiring harnwess and unhooking gas tank filler neck from hose leading to tank. you will need help of at least 3 others to pull the bed unless you devise a lift or a stand for your bed to sit on. think of it like a semi truck unhooking from a trailer. bed stays put truck moves forward. replace pump and back up under the bed and reattach. good luck

How to get the fuel pump out of the gas tank on a 1998 dodge ram 1500 4x4 5.2

you have one or two options you can slide the bed off of the frame enough to gain acess to the top of the fuel tank or you can drop the tank if you drop the tank its better if its not full of gas makes for easier handiling either way once you get access to the top of the tank you will have to use a straight edge and a hammer in order to release the locking tab on the pump once the tab is free you will be able to pull the pump out of the tank. reverse the process in order to reinstall.

I have a 1989 Bronco 2 and it is not getting the fuel right. I think it is the fuel pump. Does anyone think what else it would be. I already replaced the filter. How would I replace the fuel pump?

The fuel pump is in the tank. Drop the gas tank.

1. Support the gas tank with a jack or something
2. unbolt the gas tank straps
3. unscrew the rubber filler neck going to gas tank
4. Lower gas tank slowly and disconnect gas lines
5. Turn the retainer ring that holds the fuel pump in the tank and left out.
6. Drain gas into gas cans to make the gas tank easier to left
7. Replace fuel pump and reinstall gas tank.

hi there,
this is to clear the idea, your fuel pump is located at inside you fuel tank.this is not easy job for replacement, have a precaution doing this there fuel inside your tank if you wanna do this or fix your self, you have to remove electical source by pulling out first the one pole or terminal of your battery.to prevent in any spark, using syphon pump, you can empty your fuel tank evacuate all fuel inside your tank before pulling out your fuel pump.figure showing fuel pump/ 37ecec6.jpg
disconnect all electrical connection on fuel pump.have a nice day

My 1996 voyager chrysler minivan is having some problems. it will go dead when I come to a stop and some times when I take off from stop. When the tank is full this problem never happens only with a 1/4...

It sounds to me like either the 'sock' (a type of filter) in the fuel tank or the pick up tube is blocked, (with a full tank, the gas is easier to pull into the fuel line), or your fuel pump is beginning to go. First though make sure that your fuel filter is not clogged. If it's OK I'd recommend a fuel pressure test to determine if the fuel pump is bad. Good Luck!

Changing fuel pump

Being a 94 truck, you can rest assured the pump is in the tank. As for the pull bed, or drop tank question, it is up to you. I always pull the tank on every vehicle, unless someone has cut an access hole through the top of the body. There are a lot of people with a fuel pump change in their future, because the oil companys have changed the additives they put in the fuel we use, and it eats the seals in the old pumps. (they don't want you to know that) It is a lot easier to change an in tank pump than most people make it out to be. (Ah laziness) Hopefully the tank is low on gas, or empty, or it is gonna be really heavy.
