96 Geo Tracker automatic jerks and sputters if I press the gas too hard

Probably needs a tune up. Clean air filter, fuel filter. Clean the Mass Air Flow Sensor & Throttle body. May need to clean the fuel injectors.

Iac location geo tracker

OLD POST day.
IAC, idle air controller ,thermal only not iSC (electric)

all 96s in usa are G16b 16v engines, and all use same throttle body unlike say a 95
its under the throttle body

95 geo tracker starts great when really cold,but hard starting when warm.You have to floor accelerator to get it started.

When was last tune up? Plugs, wires all fluids & filters - especially fuel filter??? I'd start there and run a good fuel system cleaner through it.

We can't get our 1991 GEO Tracker to start

I had this problem as well. The tracker had sat for 8 years and would only run off of starter fluid. I replaced the filter and fuel pump then I had no fire. Located under driver side dash in the fuse panel theres a fuse for coil. I don't remember which one, but, I am pretty sure it is a 10 amp fuse. Or just do like I did and replace any bad fuses. If that doesn't work it will be a relay located above that same fuse box.

95 Geo Tracker - Automatic. Starts ok, but when

It needs a fluid change,and filter,in the transmission,also,add a additive called LUBEGUARD from napa auto parts,when you ask for the additive,be sure to get the one for gm,this additive keeps the valve body slick,and moving,this is the problem,your filter,and ,or,the fluid is dirty,and causing hydraulic problems,and valves to stick in the valve body in the transmission.

Pull one or two sparkplugs and check them for moisture; not fuel, but for water beads.
I don't know how long your engine ran after losing coolant but there is a chance that you lost the head gasket and have gotten water into the cylinders.

I've got a 95 geo tracker. It will start and idle good. When given fuel easy it will idle up to 4500 rpm. If given fuel kind of fast it will run about 1000 rpm wide open.

HAVE YOU TRIED REPLACING THE FUEL FILTER SOMETIMES WHEN A FUEL FILTER IS FULL OF TRASH YOU WILL GET THIS OUTCOME.

Where is the fuel filter on a 95 tracker ?

rip, The filter is located under vehicle, passenger side, below seating area, front of fuel tank, mounted on frame in fuel line.

yes.. i thought that too.. it goes to a plastic box.. with screws. its not the usual clamps on it.. and a video on youtube said later models where behind the glove compartment.. i see something in there.. but my glove doesnt come out like the ones in the vids

the filter in the dash is probably a cabin air filter for the climate control in your car

Thank You jimmee3.. gonna open it tomorrow.. i just cldnt imagine.. all that lock down for an air filter.. and i will see whats in the dash too..
