Question about 1993 Chrysler Concorde

1 Answer

Stater 1 yr old. When car sits a few days battery dies. As soon as I take the car for ride. It charges right up. Is this a bad cell in the Battery or could it be the voltage regulator.

Alternator must be charging as battery does charge while driving. the car has a 2.7 engine.

SOURCE: I have alternator charging battery problems.

hello there:
you're problem may be in the alternator or the battery to find out you will need a volt meter and have the vehicle running to test the alternator set you volt meter to dc voltage and touch the positive side with the red lead and the negative side with the black lead you should show 14 to 14.5 volts if not replace the alternator then with car off using the volt meter and test the battery the same way you should get 12 to 13 volts then wit the volt meter still hooked up to the battery with the help from someone try to start the car and see if the voltage drops below 10 volts if so the battery might be shot....hope this is helpful best regards D.Jones p.s please leave a review thanks

Check the connections and the fusible link. A fusible link is an inline fuse in the wiring. You will need a multimeter to test and troubleshoot. Check that when the ignition is on, that you are getting 12 volts to the lead to the alternator. The ignition switch controls turning on the charging system.

Good luck, jim

SOURCE: alternator has intermitent no output voltage 11.--

Only a guess, but you could put a voltage regulator
in it,if you can find one

You may have a generator repair shop that will sell
you one,or try an auto parts store

Unfortunately the days of the 1960's thru 1980's have
passed us by.

Now you get punished with a questionable
rebuilt, for several hundred dollars

Check ALL ground wires in the engine compartment
& I mean any wire or battery cable

Remove them & clean all of them

Other than the obvious (radios etc that have been added) I would check the diode in the alt. It is like a one way valve so it will charge but when shut off drain the batt. when bad.

What's your problem?Recently I left the key on or the light on or both in my 2001 suburban.. So i jumped started it no problem. next day while taking my son to school about 1 mile on the way back

How old is the battery? Have it load tested at a car parts store. It sounds like an old or bad battery, Do you remember where it was bought? Some new batteries fail right away, take it back they will replace it.

My car just stopped ....lost power. Battery is only 1 year old or less. thought it was a cable connecting the battery because we replaced it and it started right up. Drove it all day today...no...

yes, a bad alternator. If your alternator was working, the car wouldn't need the jumpers to keep running. Take the alternator off and have it tested at your local parts chain. Let me know if you need instructions or have other questions.

Wont start just clicks, battery is 1 yr old, dials go crazy when trying to start it

It is possible your alternator has died. Try charging the battery or getting a jump. Once the engine is running remove the Neg. battery terminal. If the engine dies the alternator is bad. If the engine continues to run it is probably your battery. Also if you can get it to a chain auto parts store (like autozone) they ussually check charging systems for free.

There is some things to check....

(1) Is your alternator charging? take your vehicle to Advanced Autos, Napa or someone like that and have them test your alternator.
(2) Is there something in the vehicle causing excessive drain on the battery when the motor is not running... like is the interior light may be on or something to that affect.
(3) Are you doing enough driving to recharge your battery? short stops and starts is not good for a battery as you may rob more energy from the battery then you are putting back in.
Sounds like something is draining your battery, something must be left on in the vehicle, Advanced Autos or Napa should be able to tell if something is draining your battery when the vehicle is off.
