Sometimes there are two temp sensors, one for the gauge inside and one for the engine management. You have possibly replaced the wrong one. Have a look to see if there is another, if so disconnect one and see if gauge drops in car. if it does its the other that needs replaced.

99 audi a4 1.9 td red i starts perfect but has a misfire when cold and wont rev over 3000 revs and puts out a bluish white smoke but if i bring it for small drive turn it off for few mins and start it...

first check your glow plugs that they are not faulty,if faulty replace them, then get a bottle of injector cleaner and put it in your fuel take and replace your diesel filter, and also change your oil and oil filter, maybe your hydralic lifters are not preasurising when cold

Sounds like the ISV (idle stabilizer valve) is screwy...Take it off, spray some carb cleaner in it..refit it, if it doesn't work replace it.

Hi Nizzy . Sorry to tell you but it sounds like your water pump impeller has fallen/broken off . Depending on your engine code it would be better off changing the cambelt and tensioner at the same time . Regards VW Audi tech
