Its not hard to replace an alternator,,,there are 2 bolts that hold it in place that you have to take out.make sure you take the pos battery cable loose so you dont short anything out , once you remove the bolts he alternator will move freely there is a wiring harness hooked to the back of it that you have to take loose and then you can pull the alternator off the try.you put it back the same way you took the old one off and when you go to tighten the belt you need a prybar to apply tension against the alternator and then as you keep that tension on therer you tighten the golts to keep the belt tight. thats about all there is to it

I cant find where the fuse for the alternator is in my 97 Mazda b2600

In the main connector to the battery positive are the fusable liks for the headlights and the altenastor you can find a bad one by pulling on them as if they come apart easily their bad. This is for the big wire on the back of the altenator. Theirs two wires in the plug one is hot all the tyime and the other is hot with the key on( this wire comes from the battery light) The gauges fuse powers them and if the temp gauge and the fuel gfauge work the fuse is likly good. If the altenator is
nt chatrging and all the wires at the altentaor are hot with the engine running ( not just the key on) then the altenator needs to be renuilt or replaced. Sometimes you can get it apart yourself and put brushes in it but most of the time this takes pratice and experience to do this correctly and the proper testing techniquies to get it right as the store sell rebuilt units for exchange. Always disconnect the battery to work on the altenatore wireing and when your problem is corrected right the battery fully charged up as the altenator is'nt a battery charger and can overheat and fail if it;s treated like one.

My battery goes bad after 1 year and I have to replace them. The dealer said that it is a defective starter and he wants to replace it on my 2006 nissan maxima.

I would only change the starter,IF, I was actually standing in the service bay,at the dealership, and talking with the tech that came up with diagnosis. He may be on to something, but I would want a technical and theory based explanation of his opinion. Then go to a local garage and tell them, what was said at the dealership.
If any no one can get out a wiring diagram and explain the theory behind your issues, forget it.

There has to be more to your vehicles electrical history, what is it?

How to remove altenator for 1999 Plymouth Grand Voyager 3.3 litre

Before the step-by-step instructions I want to make sure this is the Alternator that needs to be replaced and not something else. This will save you money for an Alternator you don't need and save you time for replacing a good alternator.
Start the vehicle. With the engine running - disconnect the Negative Cable from the Battery. If the Engine dies - it is the Alternator. If it doesn't die - it is not the Alternator. I have had plenty of people who have replaced perfectly good Alternators only to find out it was something else.
Step-by-step:
1. Disconnect the Negative Cable from the Battery.
2. Using a 15mm closed end wrench/bar - Rotate the Belt Tensioner towards the front of the vehicle and remove the Surpentine Belt off the Alternator. You do not have to take it completely off the vehicle.
3. Remove the bolt holding the top of the Alternator Mounting Bracket to the Engine Air Intake.
4. Remove the bolts (plural) holding the outside of the Alternator Mounting Bracket to the Alternator Mounting Plate.
5. Remove the bolt holding the top of the Alternator to Alternator Mounting Bracket.
6. Remove the Alternator Mounting Plate.
7. Remove the the Altenator Mouting Bracket.
8. Rotate the Alternator towards the rear.
9. Discoonect the electrical connections (plural), including the nut holding the wire on.
10. Remove the lower Pivot bolt located at the bottom of the alternator.
11. Remove the alternator.
12. Installation is reverse of above.

Pontiac 3.1 with blowed head gasket

Are you sure it needs a head gasket? These are common for just having leaking intake gaskets and that is alot easier and cheaper to fix.

It's actually super easy.
All you need is your year and make alternator belt and a wrench.
Take off the existing altenator, take off the old belt.
Once the altenator is off you'll be able to look further down below where the altenator was. You'll see a metal wheel that's a little bigger than the one on the altenator. This is where the new belt needs to wrap around.
I found it alot easier to wrap the belts around the two wheels before putting the altenator back on the engine.
Make sure that all bolts and seals are sound. (that's the last thing you need falling off in the middle of nowhere!)
Hope it helped!
