2007 Chevy Uplander. Tonight the lights did not come on automatically (turned them on manually) and no dashboard "back" lighting.

Predicated that the light switch that controls your dashboard back lighting was not set to its dimmest setting, and the fact that the sentinel did not automatically turn on your head lights, indicates a problem in the switch that controls the headlights, interior lighting, and dash lights.
I would however check all my fuses before going out and buying a new switch assembly; I would also check the photo sensor as well.

Have red engene lights at panel

There several red lights that can come on showing a fault, park brake on, alternator not charging. no oil pressure, engine over heating, are just a few, check the drivers manual to find what each light relates to. Best not to drive till the faults are repaired.

My Nissan Qashqai has started to think it's night time in the day... My headlights should come on automatically at night and go off in the daylight. However, they are constantly on now even in the middle...

The sensor is normally on top of the dashboard in front of the driver. Make sure you have nothing on top of the dashboard, nor are using a dashboard cover. The sensor is small, but should look like a little clear lens mounted into the dashboard.

Check trans light on

there are 2 possible problem and solution. 1st check your RPM sensor located in the transmission.(less expensive part). if this does not work. got to option 2 which is the computer box, try to consult an expert computer box technician to repair it or buy a new comp box. but before buying... be sure all electrical connections are good and no additional accessory are connected to the wirings.bad connections and circuits may lead to damage comp box.
