Yep tried that. Its been set on off for two years. I used to have a problem where my horn would go off too. Just pulled the fuse on that one and good to go. I thought that was the computer under my passenger seat that controls everything?

Sounds obvious, but have you tried moving the security switch (at the base of the parking brake) to the off position.

If that does not work, your security system is prob faulty and you should disengage it. Check your owners manual on how to do this. There should be a separate security system manual with the directions to disengage the alarm.

If you cant find it, and you absolutely must fix this prob. You can remove the alarm control unit underneath the driver side seat. You'll have to take out the drivers seat (Easy: just unscrew the 4 screws attaching the seat to the frame, start with the 2 in the back by sliding seat all the way forward, then slide seat back and remove front 2. The control unit is the unit next to the console. just unplug it and leave it in there just in case you need it later for something. Good luck

Sorry. I take that back. just got the detailed schematics on my 95 pathy and its the "door lock timer" I was telling you about, which I did use to have a prob with, but I just reset it and then was fine. the other unit under the driver seat is the R-ABS control unit. Under the passenger seat is the "A/T control unit" and the ECM (ECCS control module).

Do you still have the manual on the factory alarm. you might need to completely disable the alarm since setting it to off clearly doesnt do the job.

    If not:

My aftermarket alarm is located underneath my dash on the driver side. Maybe thats where your unit is located also. Remove the underside of the dash on the driver side and look for a black box about an inch thick and 4"-5" long and 4"-5" wide that should have a harness connected to it with a few other sets of wires on the side leading out and piggy backing onto other wires. You might need to unscrew the fuse box to get a better view of the underside of your dash. Sounds like a lot of work but it actually only takes a few minutes. just remember which screws are for what.

If you see this unit (there shouldn't be anything else under there that looks anything like that), just disconnect the main harness leading to it and leave the rest of the stuff connected, for now. That should totally and completely disengage the security system. Since you don't use the security features of your truck anyway, that should be fine.

Let me know how it goes

1990 Nissan Pathfinder XE

If you are hearing a click the most common cause would be to check your starter, make sure you have a good connection at the battery and make sure you have a good batery. Of you hear a "click" I doubt it's the security system. I'm guessing the starter is bad.

Where is the valet switch/button for 96 pathfinder

does not have one.valet function was acheived by cutting special key that would not open glove box etc.the only way it would have a switch is if an aftermarket security system was installed and then it would be located anywhere the installer decided to hide it.

2005 honda civic ex automatic stalled at 40 mph

Check the main fuses under the hood. There are several large ones there. A loose connection on one of them could have caused the sudden, complete electrical failure you described. If it is a loose connection, it would certainly explain why it "came back to life" by itself.

Also, might you possibly have any sort of aftermarket security system that has an immobilizer feature on it? While I wouldn't expect this to disable the entire car including the radio, if it were incorrectly installed I suppose it could.

I hope this help. Good luck!
