SOURCE: fuel pump fuse blowing

replace the fuel pump, it is drawing to much current, this is common when the pump bearings get worn out, also make sure you replace the fuel pump connector at the fuel tank connection, it will be burnt..

try cleaning the connector that goes to the fuel pump, sometimes they corrode on inside. If that does not fix, test the wires feeding fuel pump with a multi meter until the condition shows itself again, if voltage drops to zero or very low then wiring problem, if voltage is unchanged with problem and fuel pump is not working and connectors are all clean, try replacement of fuel pump.

Well code 1450 for a Ford product is a problem with the gas tank venting system.
I would think the pump in the tank is blowing the fuse, and it could be from excessive pressure in the tank.

The fuel pump fuse blowing is an indication of the fuel pump wires may be shorted inside the tank.
If you drop the tank and remove the module, you may find the insulation burned off some of the pump wires.

Prob a good idea to take it in. If it is happening to your model, it may be a re occurring problem for that model and mechanics may have seen it before.

Fuel pump is working and is getting fuel to injectors, but my 1995 Ford Windstar is blowing fuses for fuel pump.

Try to follow wiring from fuse panel to relays etc and back to pump while looking for bad, loose, soft, thin or corroded connections along the way and clean or repair them as necessary to be sure you have a good clean source for current to flow. Any of these in wiring can cause amperage draw to go up, thus causing the fuse to blow. If all that checked out good, then the probable cause is the fuel pump getting worn and drawing too much amperage thus replacement is necessary. If you have a trusted mechanic in the area who can do an amp draw test on the fuel pump wiring harness, that should tell you for sure.

I have a 99 windstar fuel pump was replaced but it keeps blowing the 15amp fuse under the hood, it wants to start but fuse keeps blowing. any ideas?

If it is blowing the fuel pump fuse, then when replacing the fuel pump one of the wires are pinched. Check the wiring. Even if the fuel pump is bound up or something then it still would not blow the fuse. More than likely the hot wire to the pump is pinched and grounding out.

It's best to have your shop put it on a scanner and see what codes it's throwing. This can be several problems. I have seen fuel pumps work intermittent and I've seen them go out after filling up. your case may be ignition problem or could be coil packs going bad. A good mechanic can scan this for you and see what the issue is or Ford Dealer for 75.00 - 100.00. Hope this helps, Chris J.C. Towing
