Question about Cars & Trucks
Not a brand we are very familiar with here in the States, just try to get your information about the systems the computer is suppose to monitor and work from there.
The defect that is triggering the system light can be the diagnostic computer itself. Sometimes computer systems embed a battery within the unit. It is common on desktop computers and some automotive.
These are "stay alive" power devices. Your car is 15 Years old and even if the battery units are rechargeable you have a lot of cycles. A capacitor can do the job, but they do not have an infinite life either.
You may simply need to check your Relays, primarily the Ignition. Some of the Relays have one function when turned on and then a second function when turned off. That second function may be supplying the diagnostic computer with "stay alive" power. You need to see how power gets to the cars' computer when the car is shut off.
Obtaining wiring diagrams can be difficult. In the States, some Autoparts stores offer Web help. In the early days, some Libraries had wiring books for cars. I can only suggest contacting Holden for what you need.
Please rate my info.

SOURCE: intermittant check engine light
The only way to find out what the problem is is by doing a scan of the car computer module using an OBD code reader.
The codes returned will tell you the cause of the problem.

if the sensor is located on the diff. sometimes the lube in diff gets lots of metal shaving and they collect on tip of abs sensor and cause it to ground out to triger light on if this is the case you have to have diff. flushed and refilled with fresh lube.

Your port should be located under the dash on the driver's side near your knee area. The port should be pointing straight down from the dash. The scanner will be plug and play and you shouldn't have to jump and pins for the OBD-II port. As for the codes, there are so many thousands of codes that you can't even guess what codes will be generated from your scan

This might help you to better understand the EVAP system and help diagnosing the code that was set. Basically there is a leak and you need to find it. Could be very hard to find without a smoke machine. I would take it into a shop to have it tested with a smoke machine and go from there. Some people might say to just replace the gas cap, but if that's not what it is, there is $20-30 wasted, when it could have been put towards an actual diagnoses that will actually help you to fix the problem
DTC P0455 System Description
The control module tests the evaporative emission (EVAP) system for a large leak. The control module monitors the fuel tank pressure (FTP) sensor signal to determine the EVAP system vacuum level. When the conditions for running are met, the control module commands the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve OPEN and the EVAP canister vent solenoid valve CLOSED . This allows engine vacuum to enter the EVAP system. At a calibrated time, or vacuum level, the control module commands the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve closed, sealing the system, and monitors the FTP sensor input in order to determine the EVAP system vacuum level. If the system is unable to achieve the calibrated vacuum level, or the vacuum level decreases too rapidly, this DTC sets. Hope i didn't confuse you.
