SOURCE: Need torque specs for oil pan gasket

There likely is a spec for oil pan but unless you are a finatic, you really don't need to know what it is. Simple rule: Don't crank down ******* any fastener. If corners near crank ends have larger fasteners, you can tighten them a bit more than on siderails. Before tightening anything, install all bolts finger tight, to ensure that they are not cross threaded. To avoid warping pan, tighten from the center of the pan, working towards both ends, alternating from side to side as you go. When you are finished, go over it again, using the same amount of force on each bolt. As I said, end bolts can if larger in diameter, be tightened more but be careful not to tighten so much that you will either split or push the gasket out the sides.. Anywhere two gasket ends **** together, I recommend using a sensor -safe dab of silicone. An oil pan is not under any mechanical stress or pressure. I have used this method for many years and NEVER had one leak. If you really need #s, small fasteners get about 12-15in lbs, larger ones about 20.

hi, you should find a serp. belt routing diagram on the cross member that supports your radiator. if not- disconnect neg batt terminal for safety. you'll need a long breaker bar metric. as most, if not all fasteners on your ram are in metric. cant remember right size socket, but just go through your metric set and "eyeball"it. once you have the proper socket-detention the belt by pulling breaker bar clockwise. remove old belt. it maybe useful to take a picture of how your old belt is routed with a camera equipped cell phone (if it is still on) so that if you get into trouble, you can look at the picture as a reference point. new serpentine belt install--insert new belt over the cooling fan route under crank pulley-over fan pulley, around p/s pump pulley,up and around a/c comp pulley, under idler pulley, over alternator pulley and finally around tensioner pulley. pull breaker bar clockwise to slip belt past and onto the tensioner pulley. release tension on tensioner. be sure to check tensioner indexing marks located on the tensioner arm this is to make sure the new belt is installed properly. reconnect neg batt cable to terminal-remove any hand tools from engine bay, start engine and observe belt operation. hope this helps!

I am just wondering on the difficulties of changing the head gasket on a 1995 dodge 1500 about how long does it typically take?

At home, doing it yourself you will fill a day up very quickly. It is crucial that you have a torque wrench and the proper torques for head bolts as well as the sequence to torque them. You'll also need some pans to catch fluids and you'll have to do an oil change when it's back together because there will be some antifreeze get down in the oilpan while you are taking it apart. If the exhaust manifolds have not been off the truck you can expect some problems there with bolts not turning or breaking off, although if you have a set of torches, you shouldn't have too much trouble. Other than that, agood asortment of sockets and wrenchs and a top end gasket kit will get the job done. Just save the beverages for after the job is done. Hope this helps.

Oil pump replacement

If the pan is not broken free all the way around, you will need to make sure it is. Then the oil pump pick up tube is going to mess with you, and you may have to turn the crank manually to get the crank journal out of your way. Drop the pan down and forward only -Ned_
