Question about 2007 Toyota Yaris 1.4
I think these 3 problems are related.... but maybe just #1 and #2: 1 - After turning off the car, the radio stays on for a number of seconds after the driver door is opened. It used to turn off immediately when the door was opened. This is not a big deal, but might give insight to #2, which started happening more or less around the same time. 2- After turning off the car, removing the key from the ignition switch, and opening the driver side door to exit the car, I usually use the door mounted electronic lock switch to lock the doors, because the car does not have remote key fob. This method has worked for years. Recently, however, the switch will move the lock, then immediately will unlock the door, refusing to lock the door while the door is open. After a number of seconds... 5-15 or so, it will usually let me lock it. Thisi is the exact same behavior it does when the key is still in the ignition, and you try to lock the doors with the driver side door open. Because of 1 and 2, I believe that the car might be sensing that the key is in the ignition switch sometimes when it isn't there. #3 - my wife recently had an episode where she could not get the key to turn the ignition switch. she tried for 30 minutes before it would turn. She tried all the old tricks of wiggling the steering wheel and trying to move the shift lever etc in case the interlock mechanism was just not adjusted quite right. finally she got it to turn. Thoughts?

It looks like you have the "Smart Key" (a small rectangular box) that does not look like a traditional key.
What you also have is a dead battery inside the Smart Key.
Look closely at the box; there is a little button on the side. Press it. This will release a small hidden key. After you remove the small key, use a small flat blade screwdriver to pry the case of the box open at the slot provided. Take the unit to a store that sells miniature batteries, and have it replaced. You will NOT have to reprogram it after the battery is changed. The life span of the miniature batteries is roughly 20 months, less if exposed to RFI, like sitting on a TV, a monitor, or other electrical device. The Smart key TRANSMITS all of the time, even when you do not press the buttons. This is why the battery only lasts 18-20 months. Let me know if this fixes your issue..

Hello. I will try to provide assistance to you, with the hope that you will give me a FixYa rating for my advice.
First, as a Toyota Service Manager, I can ASSURE you that there is NO "minimum mileage" before a dealer will look at it. That is a direct VIOLATION of the Direct Agreement between Toyota and the dealer body.
Second, what I would do is call this number : 1-880-331-4331
That is the Toyota Customer Experience Center. Call them, explain your situation and the dealership that is refusing service, and the CEC will get in touch with that dealer, and inform them that they HAVE to look at your car. After you call, expect a call from the Customer Relations Manager at the dealership in question, within 3 business days after your call to the CEC.
I hope that the dealership gets your car fixed up for you.
Please feel free to respond back, if you have any other questions or concerns.
Thnaks for choosing FixYa fore assistance!

Have 2005 Sienna and its Driver side door was not openning. Cheap dealer fixed it himself in front of me. After opening the doors plastic assembly while sitting inside with a screw driver. Then he bent the clip towards left where the metal wire is connected. If you guys want to see what he did i would record a video and upload for you guys. Let me know at email@example.com
