SOURCE: KIa Mentor engine light

if the light came on it could be a fluid level warning. In most models today they don't have a light or gauge for the levels. I would check this first. you mention a hesitation, this could be as simple as changing the fuel filter or a faulty O2 sensor. Best bet is ti have a diagnostic scan done to find out if there is an active code present in your ECM.please rate this.....thanks

SOURCE: 1998 kia will not start need to know where the fuel pump is locat

there is a fuel filter in the tank and next to the engine block on the passenger side near the firewall. the fuel pump can be reached by folding up the back seats and pulling up the carpet flap under it there will be a plate secured by four screws after removing there are a few screws holding on the sending unit which contains the fuel pump. how many miles are on the kia? it could be the timing belt they tend to break if not replaced every 60k and altho guides say so this is not an interference engine meaning if u line it all up and put a belt on i will run again trust me mine did

SOURCE: I have a Kia Mentor 1997 SLX and its chugging to a stop after 5km

Sounds like a catalytic converter to me, disconnect the exhaust pipe before the catalytic converter, then start and run it, it's gonna sounds VERY LOUD, this should stay running now.If it does then you need to invest in a new catalytic converter, you will set off an engine code so that will be expected, get back to me with any questions.....I'M HERE TO HELP!!!

I have a 1998 1.8L Kia Mentor and my clutch pedal won't sink to the floor but I can't get any gears.

There are 3 progressively difficult and expensive steps you can take. I have to assume that the Mentor is the same as a Sephia.
First: Check the level of fluid in your brake/clutch canister. It MIGHT have 2 separate canisters (like the 1995 Sephia.) But I doubt it.
Second: Check your hydraulic clutch cable and the unit at the transaxle. It may need to be bled.
Third (and most expensive): Replace your clutch and pressure plate. This is the most expensive as it requires removal of the engine.

I hope this helps you find the source of your difficulties.

My kia mentor has an intermediate fault o ran out of fuel and since then it cuts out and takes a while to restart

If this is when it started then you may have picked up dirt from the bottom of the tank and have plugged the fuel filter. change the filter and retry to see if has improved. you also may have caused damage to the fuel pump when you ran out of gas. therefore you will need to replace the fuel pump.

Kia mentor 1997 will not start have tried new coil, spark is alright but yet wont fire

If you have spark, then the next thing to look for would be fuel to fuel rail and good pressure, if low pressure, change fuel filter, check for faulty fuel pressure regulator and check fuel pump relay. If you are getting good fuel pressure, the next thing to look for is a faulty sensor
