SOURCE: WATER AN COOLANT DISAPPEARING

Assuming you've already checked the obvious- radiator, hoses, water pump and they are OK here are my suggestions:

If your radiator system has a bleeder valve you need to bleed the system or you will keep getting air pockets that show up in the radiator as low levels of water that need topping up. Check if your engine has this and bleed it- usually VERY SIMPLE process to bleed the air.

Is your carpet/floorboard wet or damp?- heater core problem

Is your oil milky?- internal engine-head gasket trouble, cracked/frozen engine block- sorry.

Have you checked your freeze plugs?

These are pressed into the block in the water channels to keep the block from cracking in a hard freeze. These are meant to pressout of the block when the water expands during a hard freeze to give room for the ice instead of cracking the block. Corrosion and pinhole leaks can form and are accelerated by failing to use antifreeze or letting it go stale.
These get pinhole leaks and may not be obvious. You might hear a hiss if water or vapor is escaping under pressure. Go to the local parts shack and see if they have a diagram that shows the freeze plugs for your specific engine then try to get a look at them- not likely since a lot of them are in very inconvenient places.

A complete set is probably $5-10 but finding the one and getting to it is priceless. They vary in size from 3/8inches to a couple inches diameter. If this is your problem I hope it is accessible and not in a difficult place, like behind the flywheel or under the exhaust manifold or engine mounts- Good Luck!

If you can't find it just keep your water filled and eventually it will become obvious where the leak is. Unfortunately with even a pinhole leak you lose pressure, which is the greater part of what is keeping the temps down in your radiator.

Please post a rating for my efforts

SOURCE: timing belt broke -2000 ford focus zx3

Hello mawbea: My name is Roger I will answer your question. You did not say which engine is in your car. So if you have a 2.0 SOHC engine. If the belt broke you should be Ok. If you have the 2.0 DOHC engine. The likely hood of bending the valves are just about a guarantee. How ever with any engine using a timing belt it is possible to bend a valve.Should you need more help please just ask.
Please rate the quality of your answer as this way we know you received helpful information.Thank You for using Fix Ya, Roger

Overheating ,water coming out the end of the plastic tube in the front above radiator as fast as i can put it in,seems like tube had aplug on it but now gone ,maybe pressure built up ,and blew end out...

This is a classic sign of a blown head gasket, pressure from the combustion chambers are leaking in to your cooling system causing the coolant to over flow out and your engine to overheat.

Inspect your engine oil and look for any signs of coolant mixed in your oil. The oil will look milky and not black like is should, very sludgy. Note that the coolant is corrosive to the engine's internal bearings so try to have the issue addressed before the bearings are damaged and your going to have replace the whole engine in your car.

Thank you for using fixya and good luck

check all battery leads and earth straps
"" car body and engen bay straps""
also check battery terminals are tight check its full of battery water too if its been low for a time bump it!
and have a ""drop meeter test"" done on the battery if its a bad battery it should show that up first time it could have cracked plates inside the battery its self, test by turning on head lights then hit starter, if every thing go's dead!!!! put ""good jump start"" battery on to car and try it again,,, all should work just fine then,,,,it could just be a flat battery?????

Antifreeze Leak

First check all hoses and connections if these are leaking there should be a tell tale mark a bit like salt deposits. Also check round the engine as there could be a corroded core plug. Also, inspect the rad for possible leaks. another possibility is the water pump seal gone
