SOURCE: 89 Ford Ranger Carrier bearing

All the bearings for the rear diff are pressed off and on, they can be done at home if u have a high quality bearing puller, but to press them on should be done at the machine shop.

You have the transmission out and are trying to remove it from the slave cylinder right? Just pull straight out. It should pop free. It just has plastic tabs that hold it on.

Gmc safari 2001 replaced rearend because. It exploded now the oil gear is fluctuating when idle and the van is shaking while idle. Rearend. Is hot to touch and i hear popping. Noise when i cut it off

The rear end will be to hot to touch after driving but if it is really hot (like cannot get the finger anywhere near it )then the problem will be in the diff . Possible pin ion bearings are under excessive preload by nut using a new spacer under the pinion flange or attempting to remove back lash at the pinion flange by tightening up the pinion nut. Excessive oil and the wrong grade of oil ( ordinary diff oil in a LSD diff) or running one side tyre at a different profile height to the other. The popping noise may be oil burning off ( like fat in an overheated fry pan)

How do you remove the front rearend crown and pinion on 1997 gmc serria 4x4 1500 pick-up

That indicates a bad pinion bearing. On this rear end it is usually necessary to replace the ring and pinion gears as well as the bearings becasue when the pinion bearing goes bad it will spin on the pinion gear itself causing it to wear thus just replacing the bearing will not work because it will fit loose on the pinion gear and it needs to be pressed on tight. ---------- First the c-clips are to be removed from the pinion gears.-------- Click this link below and follow the detailed procedure:---- -------------- This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.

I need to know how to get the hex nut out of my 1993 ford Ranger pickup-rear end ??

Caution!!! Removing the driveshaft yoke retaining nut could cause misalignment of the ring and pinion gears and lead to more serious problems. If you are wanting to access the pinion bearing because your 8.8 rear end has started making noise then you really need to disassemble the unit as a whole. A job left in most cases to an expert.

I have a whining noise in the differential of a 1998 ford explorer. There isn't any play from side to side. Can this rearend be shimmed?

You probably are having pinion bearing problems. It seems that ford had some rearend problems with some of there trucks and suv's.

'95 Ford Bronco full size I dropped the rear

Normally when you take driveshaft off, you'll see a big nut in behind it, that attaches yolk to differential. Remove that big nut, and it should come out, but may need a puller. It's splined, and should be a bearing in housing, yolk.

Need 2 get axels out of ford 8.8 rearend. I got it all apart but i cant get the axels to come out. I need to replace the axel seal and bearing. Hope you can help.

Do you have the pin in the differential out & "c" clips removed, or is it a different system? Once pin is out you push in slightly on axles & remove "c" clip, then pull them out.

Rear end spitting gear oil out the yoke is this a simple pinion bearing problem. Just bought the truck and when I took it down the road for the first time I found problem by loud gurring sound coming from...

Sounds like the pinion bearing is shot, and its not a easy fix, as the rearend has to be taken apart to replace the bearing. Unless you have done one before and you got all the tools and a dial indicator to set everything back up to specks, its best to have a shop thats done this kind of job before to do it for you. In the long run its the cheapest way out.
