Smelling gas. Is that a vacuum hose leak?

The first place to look for a leak in these new cars is the fuel tank vent hose or the fuel injection line. Older cars, pre-1980's, have a carburetor float bowl. When you shut off a pre-1980 car there is normally some boiled fuel that will create a smell of gas.

I changed my fuel filters on my 2003 6.0 it was running good just wanted to change them now it is running hard an keeps acting like it has air in the system I've put a motor craft then a wix filter still...

Remove the o ring seal and clean the housing before fitting a new o ring seal ,check the housing is not damaged or warped then bleed the system. There is air in the system, some times hard to find the leak. If you pressure the system with air from fuel filter outlet back to the tank a fuel leak may show up.

My 1992 honda accord ex leaks oil dripping from the oil filter housing onto the muffler that smokes when the car is running and smells. I have replaced teh o-ring for the housing twice but it still leaks....

if you have replaced the O ring already it either got pinched when tightening, or the housing itself is warped or has a hairline crack, check the o ring again, and inspect the actual housing

Gas is leaking from my fuel rail (phlegm) on my number 5 fuel injector on my 1994 camaro

  • Park the Camaro on a flat, level surface and set the parking brake. Open the hood and secure it in place with the hood prop. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  • Open the gas tank to relieve pressure on the fuel lines.
  • Remove the sight shield from the fuel injector with a socket wrench. Loosen the screws on the hose clamps and disconnect the fuel lines connected to the injectors. Keep a rag handy to catch any fuel that leaks.
  • Disconnect the vacuum hose and ignition coil wire, then unplug the electrical connectors. Remove the fuel injector mounting bolts, undo the retaining clips and remove the fuel injectors.
  • Put a thin coat of engine oil on the new fuel injector's O-ring. Place the O-ring in position, install the new fuel injectors and secure the retaining clips. Install the mounting bolts with a torque wrench set at seven pounds.
  • Plug the electrical connectors back into the fuel injectors. Reconnect the vacuum hose and ignition coil wire. Connect the fuel lines and tighten the hose clamps with a screwdriver to secure them in place. Bolt the sight shield in place with a socket wrench.
  • Place the gas cap back on. Reconnect the negative battery cable

How to set the floats on 1980 honda fcivic

YOU CHECK FLOAT LEVEL LOOKING AT THE SIGHT GLASS ON THE RIGHT OF THE CARBURETOR.FUEL LEVEL SHOULD ALIGN WITH THE DOT ON THE SIGHT GLASS.IF THE LEVEL IS ABOVE OR UNDER THE DOT THE CARBURETOR HAS TO BE DISASSEMBLED.TO SET FLOATS REMOVE AND INVERT THE AIR HORN UNTIL THE FLOAT ARM JUST TOUCHES THE NEEDLEVALVE OR THERE IS ABOUT 0.1 mm OR 0.004 INCH CLEARANCE BETWEEN THEM.MEASURE THE DISTANCE BETWEEN THE BOTTOM OF THE AIR HORN GASKET INSTALLED.AND THE CENTER OF THE BOTTOM OF THE FLOAT.THE DISTANCE SHOULD MEASURE 36.4 mm 1.39 - 1.47 INCH. ADJUST BY TURNING THE NEEDLE VALVE SEAT.BE CAREFUL NOT TO ALLOW THE VALVE SEAT TO PROTRUDE FROM THE SEAT ATTACHING BOSS.WHICH WOULD ALLOW THE VALVE TO FALL.IF THIS IS THE CASE BEND THE FLOAT ARM SLIGHTLY UNTIL PROPER CLEARANCE CAN BE OBTAINED.WHEN CARBURETOR IS INSTALLED CHECK FLOAT LEVEL BY LOOKING INTO THE CARBURETOR FLOAT SIGHT GLASS I MENTION IN INFORMATION ABOVE.IF YOU HAVE A 1487cc AND 1600cc CVCC MODELS WITH THE KEIHIN 3 BARREL CARBURETOR.THIS WOULD DEALERSHIP JOB.THIS TYPE IS HARD TO ADJUST.

Thermostat wont fit currectly using gasket supplied with thermostat-tried O ring-over thermostat leak was visible what do I do?

    Hi:
With no thermostat, the thermostat housing should sit flush against the engine mount surface. The outer diameter of the thermostat should drop down into the recess provided and not even interfere with the gasket. Make sure both sides are clean , and all residue is removed. IF the thermostat will not fit into the recess provided, then take your thermostat housing to the place you bought your new thermostat, and have them fit your new one to your housing.
