Slow Turn on Ignition

I have this truck and when I click the ignition it seems to drag to start, but yet starts right up. Initially gives me impression battery is bad. We're only talking a few seconds and starts right up. My brother says the distributor needs to be adjusted. Something about one screw a slight rotation and it should be good. Says if not corrected eventually causes strain on starter. THOUGHTS?

Loose battery leads, ignition switch or solenoid is worn. I haven't heard of his solution but it couldn't hurt anything.

If this is a new problem, I do not think it is the timing, suspect more the battery.

Have you tried it with a jump start ?

If you do, and it is an improvement get the battery tested, then the alternator belt tension checked, and if these prove all ok, perhaps your starter is on the way out ?

Good Luck

I have a 1992 Honda Accord LX I get power to all the electronics from the car but when I go to turn the car over there's nothing it doesn't even act like its getting power to the starter

It is gonna be a toss up between the starter [not so much] and the starter motor solenoid... Although the solenoid is more expensive... My guess is you should be hearing a good healthy CLICK coming from a working solenoid...
(assuming decent battery ampacity... and good clean connections).

I'd give odds on the solenoid.

You should be able to short past it (as a test)... but don't be sitting on the front fender when the car starts...

Very awkward!

My Sonoma will just stop running while I am driving it. Doesn't seem to be related if it is going up a hill, going fast or slow. If I turn the ignition off and then turn it back on it starts right up,

contact your GM dealer as there is a recall out on all GM products that covers the past 12 years for a problem ignition switch
it doesn't matter if it is new or second hand
All GM vehicle cars now being made have no hole in the key for a key ring as a result of the recall

Ignition switch light comes on on panel of 1997 cadillac while it's running ...what's the problem?

it went into a drag. What ????? What Ignition light ??? You mean the starter was dragging from trying to start it to long . Drained the battery ? From the ignition light , i'm think your talking about the anti-theft system . Really can't make heads or tails out of what your trying to say here , Your best bet ,take it to a qualified repair shop . Without test we'd only be guessing .

grinding, clicking but not turning over, free spinning ( as in the starter seems to engage and spin but does not turn the engine over, and if you turn the key and nothing happens however starter problems are commonly misdiagnosed as battery problems so test your battery extensively before you conclude its the starter

I had the same problem with my 1997 Wrangler. I seem to of solved this by turning the ignition to off then depressing the lock on the immobilizer. Then waited for about 10-15 seconds after the red light on the dash quit blinking fast . Then I hit the unlock on the immobilizer and the Jeep started and ran ok. I guess the immobilizer is the culprit and it doesn't unlock initially
