Follow the top radiator hose to where it goes into the engine. Follow that until you reach the part shaped like a dome usually held onto the engine with two bolts. The thermostat is under the dome. You have to drain some of the coolant into a pan by removing the radiator drain plug, then you can remove the two dome bolts and replace the thermostat. You have to put the new thermostat facing the same way as the old, and with a new gasket or o-ring. Of course wait for the engine to cool before don't this.

SOURCE: My alero 99 was overheating now engine soon light came on

Lol, you are funny. Can the car be driven to Autozone or another parts supplier that provides free scanning. There really is no way to find out why the light is on until the code/s are read.
It would also help if you could give more info about the repair. Was anything else checked (water-pump, fan, radiator, and condition of the antifreeze)? Is the antifreeze res. still full? let me know.

How to remove shifter

If your Alero is an automatic, look for a black, U-shaped clip inside the front of your shift handle. Pull it out with needle-nose pliers, then just slide the shifter off. It's a common problem for '99 Olds Aleros. Best wishes!

Why is 99 olds alero have no heat and fluid coming out of overflow

You may have a physical obstruction between the radiator and the heater cool. This could be a kinked hose, a vapor lock, or a stuck thermo. While the car is cool, take off the radiator cap, and then let idle up to temperature and look to see if water is moving through the radiator. If no water is flowing, definitely start by replacing the thermostat and then go from there.

Dodge ram50 1992 swap 2,4L to 2,6L

Greetings!

Yes, the engine mounts and bell housings are the same.
The swap should be straight forward, however be sure to swap all the vaccum controls and emission system from the 2.6L.

Have fun!
Cheers, Jay
