Question about 1990 Ford F150

1990 f150 5.0 changed water pump .. now wont stay running

Possible sensor connection .. found wire near oil filter off. looks like it goes to a sensor?

By the oil filter is the oil pressure switch,screwed into block.If you have a oil pressure gauge,it won't work.

SOURCE: oil leaking around or near the oil filter

Might have to take the filter off wipe the O-ring thats on the filter clean and the area where the filter will be going on to the block. Probably has some dirt where the filter seats on the block.

If Im not mistaken that code is due to a lean mixture which in turn can cause an engine to run hotter.Have you had the line pressure checked for the injectors. If you have pulled all the spark plugs are there some with colors different to others? Try switching sensors from one side of engine to other and see if code changes.Do front ones first then if no change swap rear ones. If change : bad Sensor. If not probably bad Cat. converter.

Why does the oil warning light comes on after the oil was replaced?

Loss of oil pressure or faulty pressure switch knackered oil pump
Main thing don't run engine till you find out what caused the problem as the engine can tear its self apart if its a pump or flow problem

Grand cherokee will not stay running

cheak the crankshaft position sensor, if that is faulty the car will stall and after a while possibly wont start back up till it cools a bit.I know i just delt with my wifes car would stall at first at a red light or on exit ramp. then it would just stsall driving on the highway.changed the cps and now now problem with that i got another problem now.hope this helps.

1990 Ford F150 wont stay running, replce ECT and ICM ... still wont run. Water coming out of exhaust after trying to run. 5.0 w/5-speed.

Very possible bad head gasket and fowled out plugs and/or O2 sensors. Remove spark plugs and check condition of them and pull O2 sensor to see if it is green from antifreeze. Good luck.

Hi, i have a 1988 toyota conquest. the oil light continously stays on. But when i rerve it up the light goes on. Oil is full. Im thinking its the oil pump? i dont think its the oil light sensor but im not...

If oil level is OK, then it is possible that the warning light pressure switch which is screwed into the engine oil pressure system is faulty and setting off light and needs replacing. There could even be oil leaking out of the switch. The switch is usually located near the oil filter and will have a wire connected to it.
If after replacing switch and light still comes on, check to make sure wire is not making contact with the engine because of cracked insulation or it could also mean badly worn engine bearings. It is unlikely to be the oil pump as these hardly ever fail.

I have a 1990 Buick Regal that stalls...

You might try a crank sensor, most of the time if you pull it out you may see a crack in it. It's between the top of the oil pan an the transmission, good luck.

Possibly a bad ground just below the distributor, but, sounds more like a bad fuel pump/filter.

This could be a possible oil filter issue(clog), or a failing oil pump as well.The first check point will be to inspect the oil level. pull the dip stick to check for proper level. if the level is sufficient, i would move on to the sending unit. Inspect the oil pressure sending unit for faults or loose connections. if the sending unit is ok, and connected properly, i would advise to take the vehicle to a near by mechanic or service depot for a look at the oil pump and filter.

The oil pressure light stays on in my 1990 mr2

First thing, make sure you have oil pressure - extremely important.

Find oil pressure sensor under the hood - it will be low and possibly around the filter area.
Remove sendor
Insert a mechanical pressure gauge - get at auto store.
Verify you have pressure

Yes - replace the electric light sendor
No - You need to replace the oil pump -

Don't run car without oil pressure - will wear the engine out extremely quick

You can also do a quick check on light circuit.

Disconnect the wire on top of sensor and see if light goes out. Usually these are a grounding device in sensor.

Yes - The indication or no oil pressure or sendor bad - see above.

No - you just have an electrical problem - short in the cable from light to sendor, but I would also check the pressure mechanically to make sure.

Loose wire near oil filter--what's it go to?

this loose wire can you tell me the color of the wire? a lot of times it goes to the oil pressure sensor, are any of your gauges not working? if they are all working look for a terminal attachment around within that area it could be the pressure switch for the ecm that tells the enigne to shut-off if the oil pressure drops below a certain pound. hope this helps at least. good luck
