It is loosened but doesnt wana come out

How to remove clutch master cylinder at gearbox


the clutch master cylinder is on the fire wall at the pedal. The slave cylinder is on the gear box bell housing and in some cars it is now inside the bell housing which necessitates the gearbox removal to replace it.. Removal of an external cylinder is to loosen the hose fitting ,unbolt the slave cylinder and then un-csrew the cylinder off the hose

Master cylinder problems


The problem is that there is still air in the system. You will need a friend to pump the cylinder while you work the bleed screw. You may have to loosen the line at the master cylinder to allow the cylinder to prime up . But what ever you still have air in the system

Clutch bleeding


loosen the line at the master cylinder to allow the master cylinder to prim properly then bleed out the system. There is still air in the system.

are you sure the driven plate is on the correct side? The clutch bearing is correct on high? Does the slave or master cylinder works ok? do they keep steady pressure when needed? Is the clutch kit the correct part according to engine type?

Clutch doesnt work,has new clutch and master cylinder.pushes down and doesnt return up.


the problem is most likley a bad clutch slave cylnder or bad clutch master cyl. or you have air inline

Clutch suddenly has no resistance and car won't shift gears. Fluids were low, have put fluid in the reservoir but still doesn't work. How do you bleed a clutch line?


on the transmission there is a slave cylinder that works like a brake cylinder, when you apply pressure to the clutch pedal a rod inside the vehicle under the dash pushes into a clutch master cylinder, (almost like a brake master cylinder without the reservoir, as the clutch master cylinder works off the brake master cylinders reservoir) the plunger in the clutch master cylinder applies fluid pressure to the slave cylinder,(located down on the trans near the clutch fork assembly) which projects a piston rod into the clutch fork dis-engaging the clutch. To bleed the clutch slave cylinder locate the bleeder screw on the slave cylinder,break loose so it loosens and tightens easily. Check fluid in brake master cylinder reservoir,fill if needed, while bleeder on the slave cyl is closed have a helper push clutch pedal to floor and back 7-8 times, (At first the clutch might stay at the floor, just pull it up by hand or foot and continue) after several pumps with no rest time push pedal to the floor and hold down with foot pressure, at this time loosen the bleeder on slave untill fluid leaks out, watch for air bubbles, close bleeder and repeat untill there is no sign of air bubbles, (make sure to check fluid in the brake master cylinder and keep fill as needed, do not let fluid get less than 1/2 empty as it might **** air and you will have to start over) If this does not bring clutch to operate then you need to check if slave cylinder is reachig its full extension of push rod or not. If it is not then you will have to replace the clutch master cyl or the clutch slave cyl or both as seals are bad and wont hold pressure. Or you need to inspect the clutch fork,the throw-out bearing, or the pressure plate fingers and clutch plate for failure or broken bent parts. I hope it turns out to be a easy fix on that clutching thing.

I just replaced a clutch, throw out berring, pressure plate, clutch master cylender on my 1997 saturn sl. Once all put back together my clutch pedal doesnt have any pressure. I can change gears if the car...


Have a look under the bonnet (hood) and next to or connected to the brake master cylinder you should see the clutch master cylinder.
  • Make sure that fluid is at the level it's required to be in the reservoir.
  • There will be a single metal pipe coming out of the cylinder and laid in the direction of where the clutch assembly is fitted.
  • The pipe will fit into the clutch slave cylinder mounted onto the bell housing (which is the housing covering the clutch assembly.
  • One end of the slave cylinder will have a rod, pushed by a piston inside the cylinder (which may be hidden from sight) and at the other end, the same pipe we have earlier spoken of is fitted.
  • At the highest point above where the pipe is screwed in there is a bleeding nipple.
  • Someone should sit in the car and push the pedal slowly down and then allowing it to return to fully up....Repeat this four or five times and then with the pedal held fully down loosen the bleeding nipple to allow the air contaminated fluid to be expelled....Repeat this procedure until the pedal has become firm.
  • Have another friend making sure the level of fluid doesn't drop below three quarters in the reservoir.
  • Make sure the nipple is closed tightly but not over tight....
  • And then happy driving

My 86 Fiero SE clutch master cylinder is weeping


Replace it. Not a difficult job. Be careful the bracket on the V6 4spd. isn't strong so don't break it while loosening the slave cylinder retaining nuts.

1993 240 nissan clutch pedal acts like it has no fluid


Check if the slave cylinder is being activated by the operation of the master cylinder (also ensure no fluid leaks are present).
If slave cylinder not moved, you still have a faulty master cylinder or slave cylinder - or the hydraulic system still has air.

If the slave cylinder is operating normally and there is still no return pressure from the clutch pressure plate, you have a faulty pressure plate or throughout lever mechanism.

Soft clutch


You have to refill the reservoir and bleed the clutch by getting loosening the bleed valve until you have no air in the system Until you are sure that only fluid comes out. No air.
