SOURCE: 1999 chevy malibu engine keeps over heating,

Overheating could be a combo of many thing's.If your thermostat is stuck you will have no circulation which will cause overheating. Also if your eng. has alot of miles your water pump may be in need of replacement.Listen for your radiator fan motor and be sure that's working and also check to see if you radiator is good.If your loosing antifreeze because of a headgasket you will see a white cloud out of the exhuast because it is burning it and sometimes you also get a little in your eng.oil.Using a pressure tester on your coolant system will help to diognos the problem,if you have a leak some where it will not hold pressure.Sign,s of a bad waterpump are poor circulation and a antifreeze leak from a vent on the waterpump.Be sure the eng. is cool before working on it.Hope this was helpfull.

SOURCE: where and how to change cabin filter chevy equinox

Hiya...the cabin air filter is located below the front passenger/windshield area.
It's only accessible by standing outside the Equinox with the hood open.
Here's how to do it...(before you pop open the hood)

1) Stand outside at the front-right door area.
2) Just below the front windshield area, pull up a few small black plastic clips that's on the black windshield wiper cowl area- a small flat screwdriver or a special clip-remover tool is handy.
3) Raise the hood up.
4) There may be a triangular-shaped hard foam sound damper at the left side nearby the hood hinge...pull it off if it allow you to work around it with ease.
5) Continue to find a few black plastic clips around the black windshield wiper cowl area.
6) Gently pull up the black windshield wiper cowl cover with care not to bend it too hard during removal.
7) You should see the cabin air filter inside that's held in place by a black rectangular box inside.
8) There's 2 black tabs that holds the cabin air filter in place.
9) Insert your finger or tool to pry the cabin air filter away from the tabs.
10) Remove old cabin air filter.

Remember to reinstall the clip parts back into place when you're finished.

You have a blown head gasket or a cracked head..more than likely just a blown head gasket..you need to have someone run a combustion gas test on the radiator..you are getting raw exhaust pushed back in to the radiator causing it to superheat

I have a 2005 chevy equinox keeps running hot

Check if the cooling fluid is "evaporating" very fast, because the head gasket can be blown. Needs a repair very soon. Better don't let the engine run any longer.

Coolant leak but no sign of leak

Do your windows fog up when you use defroster? Any residue on the inside of winshield? Is the carpet damp under either floor mat? These are signs of a leaking heater core. If no to all of these check at tail pipe when running for excessive water (depending on the climate if it's cold out of coarse there will be some condensation) if so does is leave a residue on your hand? This could be the sign of a blown head gasket, blown intake gasket or cracked head. I don't know what engine you have but, Chevy 3.4 engines are known to blow intake gaskets.

2006 chevy equinox overheating sludge in reservor and white smoke from tailpipe . is it headgasket or lower intake

hi.
unfortunately, sludge in the reservoir and white smoke does suggest a blown head gasket.
if the smoke smells sweet, then that will confirm that coolant is being burnt. take the car to a radiator centre for a pressure test, this will test the system and tell you where the problem lies. a basic pressure test should be fairly cheap. some places will do the test free of charge if you ask around. hope this helps

White smoke coming out of tail pipe, iddles.

usually a sign of a blown head gasket or intake gasket or, gulp a cracked head or block. Check your engine oil for a milky color, This would confirm a blown head gasket. There is a test to determine if hydrocarbons are in your coolant. If your coolant level is low or empty, this is another sign.

possible blown head gasket. Put in gear with your foot on the brake and rev up to see if there is vapor coming out the exhaust. Also remove radiator cap and run engine to see if bubbles come out of the radiator. Either of these would indicate a blown head gasket or possibly a cracked head.
