What color is the smoke? blue is oil burning which is valve seals or pcv is bad. black smoke is a weak ignition meaning low spark in needing a tune up or other parts to be replaced. white smoke is bad that is your head gasket

White smoke coming from exhaust, need help

White smoke is condensation from a buildup of water from within the exhaust system - if it was blue smoke then it is burning oil ... let car sit for a few minutes and take the dipstick out - wipe it clean - then re-insert dipstick - take it back out and check level against gauge at bottom of dipstick if you think you may have overfilled the oil

Just got my 1998 Cadillac deville back from the shop yesterday, now today I see smoke coming up from under the hood when I stop..it seems to be coming from the area where the ignition coils are. What could...

Depends on what you have done to the car. Most times when cars are worked on, it gets oil or coolant on the exhaust. Causes smoke. I let the oil burn off and drive the car before it goes back to the customer. Should stop after a couple of drives. If it doesn't take it back. if it didn't smoke before, or that's what you took it in to have fixed. They didn't do their job right.

Smoke coming back passenger side tire smoking and made loud bang sound

My guess is the brake is being applied by the ABS system due to a leaking hydraulic valve in the hydraulic control section of the ABS module.

White smoke occasionally coming out of my Altima tail pipes.

If there is no loss of Coolant, which is a sign of Head gasket failure to the combustion area, which generates white smoke, I would recommend after 4000 miles of your mileage alone, a complete Service of Engine Oil and filter, AIR filter and Fuel filter.
An inexpensive way to find a recurring combustion problem, At 60k miles, the Spark plugs should still be good, but pull them anyway, just to confirm.

Service engine light-evap code, any common places to look???

In order to find that requires what is called a smoke machine. The evap is a very low pressure system, and a leak is almost impossible to detect. The smoke machine puts a low pressure stream of smoke into the system through a port in the engine compartment and then you follow the lines back to the tank, generally with a light to see the smoke coming out.

Hope this helps

Engine light is on smoke test revealed vacuum leak at back of eng

Vacuum boot comes off of the intake manifold at rear of engine, passenger side. Super hard to get to. you cannot see it. You have to do it by feel. After a startup backfire, mine popped off. My mechanic couldn't find it, but a smoke test of the vacuum system confirmed it was coming out between firewall, and intake. It took me @ an hour to find it. Pushed it back on and it works great.
