Question about 2006 Buick LaCrosse

1 Answer

My 2006 buick LaCrosse engine shut off during warm up, then interior and exterior lights were blinking until we turned the key off?

When i tried to restart it, the engine did not try to roll over, there was just a ticking noise, then nothing.

SOURCE: 2000 buick lesabre- was driving and engine stalled

I had a similar situation and after some research, I discovered it was doing what many referred to as "Phantom Stalling" It would only happen once in a while and when I wanted the mechanic to see it, it never happened for him.

Keep an eye every so often on your RPM gauge (beside the speedometer) and see if it cuts out completely and does not move when you speed up (shows 0 even though your still in in drive and moving). Mine would do that and after a few minutes the car would stall and I would have a hard time starting it back up.

What I found out was that my "Crankshaft sensor" had gone bad. I picked up a new one at AutoZone and had the mechanic replace it.

My car has not stalled since Ive had the sensor replaced and I found that when I was ideling, the idle was a lot smoother than befor.

Hope this helps you.

ok its one of two things you need to check when it cuts off if you have spark or fuel if you lose fuel pressure replace pump it gets hot and makes noise like its running but its not pumping fuel and if you lose spark you need to replace ignition control module has a hair line crack in it and when gets hot the crack expands and loses contact and wala no spark

When started each morning there is a loud sound (vibration) until the engine warms up. it then disappears until the next morning

It may be an exhaust shield that is loose on the exhaust system. The shield is added to the exhaust to prevent a hot surface from touching something flammable when the vehicle is parked after shut down. It will not cause a leak, but it can create the problem you are experiencing, just a thought. This is all I can post for a solution after reading the info you gave. Also check the exhaust mounts.

While driving down road the interior lights won't shut off. I am sure it is a matter of the wrong button or setting but not finding answer in owners manual.

Interior lights are usually activated manually by the dimmer switch. When you turn your dashboard lights all the way up to bright, there is usually a small click that will turn on the interior lights as well. Just slightly turn the dimmer down until the click shuts off the unwanted lights. Good luck
