What it is! In a 4-speed automatic, D or drive is 3rd gear, and 4th gear is overdrive. If you have a 3-speed automatic, D is still 3rd gear.

im wondering what the problem could be

  • montehammons Jan 03, 2013

Don't see the problem. Do you have a D and an OD on the shifter?

  • Munz o Jan 03, 2013

    no OD

  • Munz o Jan 03, 2013

    no OD button

  • montehammons Jan 03, 2013

OK, Munz o, I should have taken notice of the year, new tech land to me, very obscured...lol. In the old days any old 3 speed auto had 3 gears, period. and third was designated as drive, and same in 4 speed autos, 1, 2, 3-drive, and 4 is OD...Nissan pulled a good one. you tell me the difference. cheers.

Hey, man, if you post your question again, it'll be up on the board again, I promise not to answer it (!). There's some real good mechanics, modern ones too, lol, probably have your answer. Luck!

TRANSMISSON SHIFTS INTO 3 INSTEAD D4

Do you have an "overdrive" button or shift position? You may need to change that to get the transmission to shift up into D4... or you may simply not be going fast enough to warrant D4.

Dash vents blowing cool air instead of heat

You have problem in 1) Your air flow system have gone down and some plastic valves that opens to cold position or to hot position is broken. Solution: remove panel and check this plastic valves that controls airflow.
2) Your heat salon radiator is very poor and can't blow in all directions. Solution: replace salon heat radiator.
3) Your cooling system don't have good limit of coolant. Solution: fil it to min - max position.
4) Your cooling system isn't bleeding. Solution: make system without air in it.
Hope this will helps.

I don't have the manual for a 2000 volvo s70.

you have to turn the key to position 1 where the radio comes on but not your instrument panel. then leave it on this position for 2 hrs. the word "code" will come on instead of "off".Then you have to put in your 4 digit security code. to obtain this, call a volvo dealer and have them run your vin. they may ask for proof of ownership. if the radio has never been changed out, this will fix it for you! the radio says "code" if the battery was disconnected, and if the wrong code was punched in 3 times, it went to "off" :-) if you have difficulty, email me at savolvo at yahoo directly.

Can't find heater fan

The heater fan is located under the dash on the passenger side. In the 2001 Lumina you have to take out the 2 plugs holding the insulation in to remove the insulation. The heater fan is at the very front butting up against the firewall. Removing the front-most bolt is a real pain in the ****, so it might be easiest to remove that first and install it last.
