it has a seperate fuse box attached its not aftermarkey by the look it has 2 yellow fuses. I changed the position of the igition switch and now get crank again but no prime. I am going to check for spark the pump relay and regulator and pump itself but would that alarm cut off the fuel pump it only primes at injectors not pump. Dumb spider injection with its excact fuel pressure needs.

There is a fuel pressure regulator on the back of your injectors, change it, its a 13 dollar part, after you do that, buy a fuel pressure guage, hook up the pressure guage, turn the key to on possition, prime the like a couple times like you would do with a new pump, check the pressure it should be any where from 58 LBS to 62 lbs of pressure in the like, if its any lower the 58, you need to change your pump, with out 58 lbs of pressure the injectors dont get the correct pressure in each purge, hence the crank with no start.. you seem to know enought about pressure n stuff like that so u should get it

Do you know if the car ever had a after market remote start or security alarm? in that box could be where your problem is, i know when they install thies they cut into ignition wires. just a guess here chk. in side that box, for maybe loose wire or coroaded wire, or maybe there is a fuse in there too.

Car has been sitting up and will not start now. It seems to not be getting gas and I do not know how to prime a fuel injection system. Any help appreciated.

There is only a few cars fitted with an ancient petrol injection system that needed any priming.

Diesel engines mostly need the injection system priming but petrol injection systems do not.

Lots of cars use a system where the fuel pump runs for a couple of seconds when the ignition is switched on and that is all the time it takes to prime the fuel system. After a couple of seconds the fuel pump switches off and waits to restart when the engine is cranked.

As priming the system takes only a couple of seconds some manufacturers don't bother with the brief priming run of the pump and just have the pump start when cranking.

Could be faulty supply, fuse, pump relay or the pump itself.
If the car is fitted with an immobiliser, perhaps that is the problem.

Vehicle cranks but won't fire. This problem came on all of a sudden. It was running fine up until it wouldn't start.

4 important things for a no start to check.Power from the ignition switch.Power at the fuel pump relay.Fuel pressure, spark at the plugs and a signal leaving the crankshaft sensor {distributor}. etc

I have a 1998 chevy astro V6 over 200000 miles

The fuel pump might be working but it is not priming. When you turn on the vehicle, the pump sends fuel under pressure to the injectors, to "prime" or have fuel present to be able to start engine. Without it there will no fuel available to start it. You are manually priming the engine, and the fuel pump is taking over from there. Check connections to fuel pump and replace if necessary. It is not an inexpensive repair

if you replace module and still had no spark. then it was not the module it could be the ignition coil. you need spark no spark no run...check power to the distrbutor. check that the distrbutor is turning.

Does the engine crank but just not start? Or... are you cycling the ignition switch without trying to crank the engine? Based on the information you have given, I would first guess that the fuel pump may be going out. I say this because when you first turn the key on the pump primes the engine with pressurized fuel. If the pump is getting old, it may take a few power cycles to get it going. You can test this theory by having somebody listen near the rear of the car while you turn the key on for the first time. The fuel pump make a faint, yet distinctive high pitch noise that can be heard when you turn the key on. Try that first. Next thing you would try is checking the relays for proper function... starting with the fuel pump relay. Good luck.

Is there a inursha switch on the 1994 bravada? we bought the truck used and on the way home it died and we cannot restart it. we are trying to remove the fuel tank to replace the fuel pump but the bolts...

NO switch, but there is a relay under the hood just to the passenger side of the brake booster along the firewall. Check the relay and the fuse under the dash, drivers side. Change the fuel filter if you can hear the fuel pump prime the system for the first 3 seconds when the ignition is placed to the run position. The fuel pressure too should be 60psi to 65psi during prime with the engine not running, you should check that at the shredder valve. The good news is the fuel pump on your 94 is less expensive then the 95's and newer. Good luck and hope this helps.

If the relay is pulled, the fuel pump should not be running. If the mechanic is right, there is a short and your pump is getting electricity from somewhere it shouldn't. If that's not the case, the mechanic could be wrong. Post what the original problem was as a comment please.
