SOURCE: 1994 buick lesabre heater core removal

The heater core is located under the dash, in the center. The container holding the core looks like a black plastic box. Remove the ash tray for easier access. You may have to also remove some other covers under the dash. You must first drain the radiator then you have to disconnect the hoses. There are two hoses connected to nipples of the heater core that go thru the center of the firewall. Remove the screws that hold on the cover to the heater core. Then you should be able to get the old one out. There might be a couple of other minor steps but I'm sure you can figure them out. For re-installation just go in reverse order to put it all back together.

My 1988 Buick LeSabre blows coolant steam into the passenger compartment when I turn on the heat and the fan. Also there is dripping coolant coming from the under the dashboard onto the floormats. Could...

Yes! the heater core is bad/leaking. it sits inside the heater box under the dash. it is a fairly big job to replace and should be done by someone who is knowlegeable and expierenced in the replacement of them. the ac system ahs to be drained/evacuated if still charged and the heater box opened for removal of the heater core. Sorry for the bad news but you are correct in your diagnosis.
I hope you find or have someone who wil take care of you on the price. This can be rather expensive to have repaired. Ballpark of 350-500 depending on labor per hour costs at a professional shop.
Good luck , Scott

.where is the engine block

The "block" is the center of the engine that everything is bolted to. Looking from the top down. First thing is the Intake manifold. It is bolted to the Cylinder head or Heads if it's a V6 or V8. the heads are bolted to the BLOCK. the oil pan is bolted to the block on the bottom of the block. Hope this explains it good enough.

It will be near the blower motor.I would check for the blower motor relay to be stuck, replace it ,and that should solve your problem.
