Question about 1992 Ford Explorer

Can a power, driver side window, be raised manually on a 92 ford explorer?

Rain water has gotten into the door and into s black circuit board and two components have come off. The power window was down when the circuit gave out. Can the window be raised manually since it is raining on the gulf coast tonight.

SOURCE: 1999 ford expedition with a passenger, front window stuck in the down possition

Hi,

Initially, try to determine which fuse goes to the power window. Check and replace if necessary.

In brief for a temporary remedy just to have the window closed: remove the triangular cover at the top front of the door behind the mirror, there should be a screw there; remove the trim around the door handle another screw, remove the cover of the courtesy light at the bottom of the door, there is another screw behind that; soon as all the screws are out, lift/push up on the door panel and pull off. This would grant you access to the mechanism controlling the window. You can try closing by manually turning the motor.

Thereafter, pls determine if it is the motor or the switch(es) has failed. Replacements are available here.

Incidentally, here is a nice tutorial on repairs of power windows in general.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

SOURCE: fuse box diagram

it can't possibly be a fuse if your front windows are working.
i also have a 94 taurus and this same thing has occured, the L-R window won't move at all. but all of my other windows work. it is probably a bad window motor. I've heard a lot about 94's having this problem. take it to the dealer and see if they have any Technical Service Bulletins about this.

window relay module probably went bad. theres a window relay under the dash you have power . try getting a wiring diagram mabey at an auto parts store or the library. so you can trace the problem down . short of taking the doors apart and checking the motors that drive the windows . Old fix with the old school cars bang on the doors from the inside with fist . it sometimes works the connections on the old school cars . Its stupid but it worked to get the window up .

Hello i have problem with all windows on Ford explorer model 1999 because not even one is working...can u help please

First I would suggest purchasing a Haymes Manual or Chilton's manual for your vehicle. Secondly, If none of the windows are working more than likely it is a bad fuse or relay. The vehicle user manual will have the layout of the fuse panel and the power distribution box. You can find the manual here http://auto.manualsonline.com/manuals/mfg/ford/1999_explorer.html?p=11

This page of the manual shows the location of the Power Window Fuse / Relay it is located in the Power Distribution box under the hood.
Page 185 of Ford Motor Company 1999 Ford Explorer Owner Guide...

You may want to simply go to the parts store and buy one and replace it, then see if it works, before tearing in to door panels and checking wiring.

Is there a fuse for power windows?

According with the Ford Owners Manual (page 226 and next) I suggest to check the next locations:
- Battery Junction Box fuse # 6-60AMP will feed Central Junction Box ( under driver side)
- the inline circuit breaker #47-30AMP, through the Accessory Delay Relay, powered by fuse #17-15AMP to the Window Control Circuit.

Check the fuses, and for 12v at the points. Then check for 12v at the driver side door switch pannel.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I'll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Yes relays do most of the functions in working and powering things like this especially for window motors and door locks there not that hard to replace you just have to know which is the one for it.

Drivers side door lock will not lock. Locks are power locks and button works. But door does not lock

the door lock actuator inside the door has gone bad.if the other doors lock and the driver's doesn't then the actuator has gotten too weak to move the lock/ latch.

The driver side floor is wet under my feet thought maybe it's leak in window just on floor and only on driver side Thanks ron 2005 explorer xlt 70,000.00 miles

it might be a door/ windor seal or it could be a heating component leaking. im sure that the heater core is on the passenger side but when they begin to leak they cause a localized leak much like your description.

2002 explorer power window fuse where

In the battery Junction Box check fuse # 6-60AMP will feed Central Junction Box (under driver side), the inline circuit breaker #47-30AMP, through the Accessory Delay Relay, powered by fuse #17-15AMP to the Window Control Circuit. Check the fuses, and for 12v at the points. Then check for 12v at the driver side door switch pannel.

Also uou should check the plug into the main window button console in your drivers door. The little piece of plastic around the door handle pops out when pushed towards the front of the vehicle. This gives you access to the buttons and harnesses.

Good luck (remember rated this help).
