You need to see if any electronic system fault codes are in the computers memory that controls the engine operation, follow the link for instructions and code lists for this OBD1 GM product.

Tip

OBD1 Trouble codes, without a scan tool.

Here is a tip for retrieving Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from any OBD1 GM vehicle. <br /><br />First thing is your going to need to get a paper clip, and bend it into a U shape. <br /><br />Now stick the ends of the paper clip into the 2 top right hand side holes in the connector. Note: Do this with the key in the run position, but with the engine off.<br /><br />You should now see your check engine light flash once, pause, then 2 times. This indicates that your ECM is working properly.<br /><br />Now it will blink indicating your code. For example an EGR failure code is DTC 32. You will see your light blink 3 times, pause, then blink 2 times, giving you code 32.<br /><br />A list of codes can be found here: http://www.gmtuners.com/OBD1_DTC.htm.<br /><br />Hopefully this helps some of you all out there. Thanks for looking.

Why is idle poor?

Sherry, No info for code ISO1914 . This year is when GM was making a change over from OBD1 to OBD2 computers. Have some body determine exactly what yours is and retrieve trouble codes to help aide diagnoses.
You can probably start by cleaning the EGR valve, this was found to be a problem with rough idle in 4.3 these years.
Check the attached link, forum instruction and guides, Good luck

Gm obd1 codes 32 and 43

Code 32 is a problem with the EGR solenoid, and code 43 may be a problem with the knock sensor. Code 43 can set when the knock sensor is functioning correctly too.
You would need to get the troubleshooting charts for the codes to determine the problems.

My 350 tbi engine starts up, runs fine til it get warn, then it starts missing, chokes out etc.why?

probably Idle air control valve or EGR. under the dash there is a diagnostic port! with key off bridge terminal A & B turn key to on position (do not start) this will flash any trouble codes VIA the check engine light the first blink(s) are confirmation. then count blinks EXP,*** **= 32 , ***** ***= 53 , ** ********= 28... then just google GM OBD1 trouble codes and see what the problem is . 1_30_2013_3_58_06_am.jpg

I got a 1994 GMC Sierra it reads a Code 32 can't find out how to solve?

OBD1 fault Code 32 means that the EGR valve is either not working or the gas passages in the intake that deliver the exhaust gases from the EGR are plugged with carbon and sludge, this is one of the most common causes of a GM OBD1 fault code 32. Remove the EGR and see if you can blow compressed air through the gas passages under the valve, I will bet one of the two or both are plugged up.
