SOURCE: water in tail lights

I had the same problem a few years ago with an 86 Volvo. I replaced the tail light assemblies but over time water was getting inside the lens again. My solution to the problem was to remove the tail light assemblies and drill a small hole (about 3/16") on the bottom of each compartment of the lens (if the tail light is sectioned off) and a 1/16" vent hole in the top or side area where it can't be seen. It worked for me and it didn't cost a dime. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: tail gate wont stay closed -latches not catching

i have a 2004 GMC SERIA. The tailgate was hard to close and would fall open at times. i too did what everyone else was doing and lubricating, the assy, and the 2 end latches. After failing and removing everything 2 and 3 times, it looked like the assy arms would not allow the latches to roll over and catch the strickers. So i removed the handle(be careful w/bezel, tindences to break the stubs). i put the assy in my vice w/arms facing away from me; i then took a punch and ball peen hammer and struck the rivette head where arms pivot. this freed up the binding on the arms release mechanism. Tailgate wrks beautiful.

SOURCE: oil leaking into sparkplug holes on rubber boots

Buy a new valve cover gasket set (and a small tube of silicon high temp sealer). It comes with new rubber seals for each sparkplug hole, and the cover perimeter.Use a little silicon glue on the gaskets to hold them in place. Take your time,do the work with a cold engine in a shaded area. Clean all the oil off the wires and make sure all the old gasket rubber is cleaned off.And check to make sure before you put the cover back on that no old gasket pieces are in the engine.

Check the wiring coming through the tail gate, the wiring breaks and grounds out , check wiring, some wiring you can see if you open the door and look for the rubber boot containing wiring, check all wires, you will find bad broken wires, caution have checked could cause lights to go out and not work or cause a electrical fire.

Leak in boot of Suzuki swift.. Hole where boot lid comes down

That's the air vent. If you look carefully water should be coming from the plastic frame that holds the vent with rubber flap. Just make the frame leakproof with mseal or some other compound. Question was asked 2 years before but might be helpful for others. I had the same problem and this how I fixed it.

I have a 2001 buick century limited. The trunk wheel well and back seat floor boards are full of water. we checked the trunk seal. still looks brand new.

easiest way for now is drill a hole in the boot well so water will drain out ,their should be a rubber bung but not on all cars ,where the water is getting in is only something you can find by getting in the boot and having someone run a garden hose all over the car ,but a 3/8th hole or two will be a good cure till the weather warms up so you can play with the hose without becoming wet and cold

How do I change license plate light on a 2005 jeep grand cherokee

Remove the light cover on the tail gate. The easiest thing I found would probably work would be some rubber ended tongs (like test tube holder) and pull the bulb out. I removed all the plastic from the tail gate and poped the handle cover off (I would advise against that!) I replaced mine with LEDs so I won't do it again. But I'm almost %100 sure that it would come out with rubber grip tongs. Good luck!

Wet rear seats coming from a leak which looks to be coming in through the boot and then under the seat?

Inside the rear wheel well behind the plastic liner there should be a rubber grommet which is used to access different wire harnesses for different equipment. Ex. all wheel drive, HID option with leveling sensor. The grommet might have come loose or is missing and probably has a small tear which let rain water from the road enter your vehicle. Also underneath the rear seat is the fuel tank which has an access port to service wet fuel pump assemblies in the tank. The cover plate must be off it's rest position and letting road water in when it rains.

2002 Highlander - water gets into wheel well

The area under the spare tire in my 2002 Highlander has been filling with water, sometimes becoming so full that it overflows when driving and soaks the carpets all the way up to the front seats. The problem, which I finally figured out today, was small cracks, just above the point where the air cylinders that hold the tail gate open are connected to the body. The cracks on both sides were apparently never sealed during assembly. Water flowing back over the top is supposed to enter the slot between the roof and the top of the tail gate, flow down either side, and then exit over the rear bumper. In my case, water was flowing into the aforementioned cracks, down inside the vehicle, and accumulating in the wells on either side of the spare tire compartment, as well as the area under the spare time. My solution was to seal the cracks with a silicone sealent. This has to be a design or assemble fault, but the fix was too simple to bother the dealer. Now I just neet a week of sunshine to dry the Highlander out.

1997 Toyota Camry LE. During wet weather, water

Most of the problems come when its raining and if its not being driven and water still comes in then its the bonnet rubber and if when its being driven then its due to the rear wheel throughing up water under wheelarch and somewhere theres a crack in the weld or somewhere and it will find its way in..
So if not using it clean it out and when rain stops look inside no rain no leak Have a goodday
