Question about 2005 GMC Sierra
LIGHT WAS ON FOR 5 DAYS , THEN COLD WEATHER CAME IN (-15) STARTED UP TRUCK LIGHT WAS OFF. DROVE OVER 800 MILES , NO LIGHT . TRUCK WAS FULL OF SALT FROM STORM WENT TO CAR WASH TO CLEAN , DROVE HOME PARKED TRUCK AND RESTARTED IT ABOUT 15 MINUTES LATER AND LIGHT IS ON ONCE AGAIN. LOCAL PART STORE TOLD ME POSSIBLE PURGE VALVE, BUT THEY CAN NOT BE SURE. ARE THE TWO RELATED, WASH AND LIGHT.
Sound like it could be the purge valve, it is located between the cab and the box on the drivers side, it has a plug and a hose going to it. It has a small foam filter in it which must be removed, cleaned, dried and then reinstalled.
It happened to me.
I don't remember if I had to remove the neg. post off the battery for a minute or so to reset the fault code.
