Question about 2004 Honda Accord 2.4

Lower gas millage related to transmission not dropping down (lowewr revs)?

I have experienced a drop in my mpg. I know winter gas can cause this....and tire pressure and tune up and.....and I think my 2004 Honda Accord 2004 needs one. It has 160,000 and I bought it with 110,000 - 50,00 in a year and a half. Lots of highway driving. Never had to(?) to anything to it except regular oil changes. In the past 3-4 weeks mpg dropped from 30-31 to 27-28 AND it seems my transmission is not revving up....it wont drop down as usual after 40mph or so. I can watch the tachometer and see rpm hovering at 2000. It never revs that high at 40 -50....rather it always drops down after a few seconds. Because its cold? It does it way too long in my experience. So, it seems the lower mpg IS related to the transmission because I see the results on the tachometer. Help?

No reason to even discuss all the possible issues

The trans sounds as though it is slipping

Not worth putting any money into, not at the kind of

Your better to lease a new one

SOURCE: automatic choke stopped working- difficulty start- revs dropping low at stop

Quick and easy attempt to fix might be to try some fuel injector cleaner, the purple bottle stuff I put in, is only about $3 a bottle, and seems to eliminate similiar symptoms brought on by bad gas.

SOURCE: Honda CR-V - 2004 - High RPM not returning to Idol RPM ????

i'am no expert on this car, but i would chk. the T.P.S. (throutle positioning sensor) there also may be carbon build up on throutle butterfly, not letting it close completely when you take your foot off the pedel.

To many things will cause fuel mileage to drop. First thing to do is read the codes(write them down). Erase them, them read them again. If it a code comes right back, check it first. No codes, drive it for 10 minutes or so, Check codes again. If they reappear check them . Some codes only come back after driving two times.

I have a 2009 Ford Focus, I keep an eye on the little light that tells me what my average miles per gallon is. It usually stays in the 30 to 32 mgp range but yesterday I noticed that it had dropped to 28...

The most likely problem is that the gas you bought most recently was a "summer blend" designed to give you LESS MPG! That's because the companies want more profits, NOT better fuel economy, which would give those companies LESS profits instead of MORE profits!

Drop in gas milage with drop in altitude

I would guess your car was built to the Emission Standards
for your state,altitude etc

Still a big drop in mpg

If you ever moved, you may need your computer software
reflashed for lower elevation

I would guess the MAF Sensor was out of it's range

Check to see if any codes were stored
Need professional scanner

Look at freeze frame data unless you have been back for weeks

The car at a certain speed the rpm tact will go up and down and it is very bad on gas since that started. I changed the egr and it solved the problem for one day. help!!!

I assume the tack is going up/down and that means the engine is reving up/down. This could be a transmission gear slip. Change the fluid, make sure you add 1 qt of Lucas Trans Fix. The next thing you should do is put it on the computer to see if you have any transmission codes.

Your drop in MPG's may be due to running on a lower gear which means your engine works harder at higher speeds.

My honda has drop the gas millage

It may be fun hitting vtec but you gotta get the leadfoot off the gas pedal lol. But anyways it could be because if weather. Cold weather kills gas mileage . Dirty air filter. Not properly inflated tires. Theres a lot that could cause it

Fuel economy slipping

If your in cooler climate where heater & defroster are used regularily, that uses more fuel, as well as tends to thicken oil, plus require more fuel at start-up etc, your mileage probably would drop, but maybe they changed grade of oil from what you were usuing. A lot of things come into play here as well as wheel alignment, tires pressures, air filter quality etc.

Gas milage seems to have dropped.

26 from 28 can be as simple as low air pressure in the tires and outside air temp changes.
