SOURCE: 97 jetta doors won't lock

I assume the doors can be manually locked. The problem is in the electrical circuit. That means anything from a faulty switch (the lock / Unlock button) to a loose connection. If both switches don't work then look for a blown fuse. If one switch works and the other doesn't than remove the switch and inspect its connection. If it's ok then check the switch. If both switch and connections are OK then you'll have to remove the door panel and access the lock mechanism.

97 polo classic cold starting problem but starts fine when hot

Hello and welcome to FixYa!
As a first course of action, I strongly suggest that you have an oil change. The oil can be burnt that's why you're having problem on cold start. New oil can make the engine move freely and can resolve the issue.
Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

Hard cold start 1997 Jetta gas

can't say for sure but almost all engines that have come to me needing ether to cold start have poor compression. test the compression first.
you sould never need to use ether on a gas engine and very carefully on a diesel when very cold.

pop off the distributer cap and dry it out well. Put it back on and it should work. This happened to my 97 jetta too...also if I go through large puddles at a quick speed this may happen too. There isn't good electrical contact with the moisture.

Electrical. wont re-start unless cold.

You probably have some corrosion on your battery terminals. Make sure they are clean and connected good and tight.
